Veils, burqas and niqabs are not for safety, but repression for women!

That's true but some women wear them because they want to, not because they have to. In that case, it's both wrong to ban it or to force women to wear it, it's just about the opinion of the women wearing these items

just bc a white rich woman said “wear burqa for fashion” doesn’t erase its history of ongoing violence and oppression towards woman in islam

:applause: Wonderfully said thank you. I wish she never ever included those lyrics. Every time I hear it I cringe - it also makes me realize how out of touch she can be at times & definitely was in that era .... :fail:

While women can wear them because they want to, we can't cancel out the possibility that the reason for wanting it could stem from the same place of oppression. People love their chains.

Anyway even if women want to wear hijab and burqa, it is a sign of women submission (as mentioned in the Coran). I m proud to live in a country that does not allow this in public spaces.

Moreover this is fakenews because masks are only mandatory in public transports but not in the street.
Every country has their opinion about laicity and France is one of the country with the most diverse religion on its territory which might means it’s not the worst to live in if you r religious.

As it should remain. Just cause it’s a free country doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want. Why should a modern society have to accept  something that dehumanizes women? Just how we are expected to adjust to their laws if we go islamic countries (where they can literally kill you), the same should be expected the other way. You have to/should be expected to adjust yourself to the new society you move to and showing your face shouldn’t have to be an unreasonable expectation.

Also, how can you even compare face masks during a pandemic that literally save lives to the burka? The burka is a symbol of oppression and submission that is usually enforced by dominating males in the society.

Nobody even mentions how some actual Islamic countries also have restrictions on the burka. The double standard amazes me.

Face masks are used to protect us from a deadly virus that is very much a reality and killing thousands of people. Burqas and veils, however, are forced upon women for no rational reason by order of a social construct that oppresses and murders.

That is the difference.

I'm sorry but niqabs and so on are part of Saudi Arabia not islam. Not to mention it creates a huge issue with security since u can't see the face of the person, when u live in a democratic country this cannot work

They should allow all religions to manifest as they want to as long as they're not hurting somebody OR if we ban something, we should ban everything TBH

Not to mention that Western countries are very obviously Islamophobic so there's no need to pretend that such decisions are motivated by their "care" for Muslim women in particular

France allows hijabs, they don't allow garments from Saudi Arabia, niqabs, burkinis etc

Islam is not at all about “woman’s choice”. Women have no choices in the eyes of islam, they are forced to wear such things by men.

I think people who haven't grown up with muslims around them or is not from a muslim country don't seem to understand what the religion really is about.

My mom could not inherit anything from her father because her brothers are the priorities (it's in islam) she's only worth 1/4 of a human being, kinda reminiscent to the slavery trade. She's had to deal with that kind of mentality for a very long time. Just read the quran for a little bit and you'll see what it says about women. This religion, just like all the others, was created by a lunatic prophet, Muhammad in particular who not only married a young child but was apparently a pretty nasty murderous person. Now it can be debateable but the proof is in the pudding, you read the damn "holy" book and all you see is how the man has to make the woman behave, she should be "modest", has to look down, be basically transparent. She should also stop ramadan on her period because she's deemed "dirty", it can go on and on

That's Islamophobic, we have to respect their culture

it's ridiculous to expect respect for a culture whose foundation is rooted in intolerance, violence and hate towards others.
