The difference here is that islamic countries make it obvious that other lifestyles are not welcome in their countries. France, on the other hand, is in the heart of Europe and preaches equality and freedom. Either give the freedom, or don’t try to look like a modern free country with no oppression. and this comes from someone who is anti-religion. Countries that violate human rights don't deserve any justification BUT: I judge a country that boasts about freedom and equality (e.g. America) more harshly than a country that doesn't (e.g. Saudi Arabia) when it comes to violating individual liberties. It's why I hate when some Westerners get all preachy. Anecdotal experience: It's like, some Americans brag about how free their country is yet do y'all know how hard it can be at times it is for a gay Arab to come to America only to be judged by the gay community? I thought I'd escaped judgement from literally a Muslim-majority and anti-LGBT country and I felt infinitely more comfortable back home than on campus in America. Where people gave me weird looks every time they hear my accent and wonder how can I be from the Middle East and "still be gay." **** the hypocrisy. I can't feel free to be myself and be proud of my identity in the "land of the free."

Saudi Arabia for example has no human rights, but since they openly tell it, people know what to expect, and that they shouldn’t live there or go there or be involved with it. They make their choices accordingly at least. France however, does the same thing that Saudi Arabia does and yet calls itself a democratic free country. by the way, I am sorry to hear about your experience. Do not mind, keep being yourself ❤️
March34th 1,973
face masks are for protection against a pandemic. burqas/niqabs/hijabs are religious. big difference. still don't agree with France banning Islam women from wearing certain garments if they choose to - but please stop comparing things that are polar opposites. it's not an argument. And even in that case, it does not mean it is not their choice. Your argument is really funny. We live in a society where we are constantly ‘brainwashed’ by everything, from ads on billboards to politics. Who are you, or who is me to tell someone else “you are brainwashed”. You really lack the knowledge on human rights.
