ARTPOP is Gaga's most personal album

All of her albums are very personal, and ARTPOP is in no way an exception, but I definitely feel that Joanne is the most personal of her albums. She’s always been vulnerable and raw in her music, but Joanne was Gaga as Stefani, her father’s daughter, etc. Diamond Heart is about her resilience through trauma and personal struggles, Joanne is about her father’s sister, Million Reasons is about her relationship with men (not only romantically) and it’s a song that is obviously immensely close to her heart, Come To Mama is essentially Gaga’s message of equality wrapped up in one song, Grigio Girls is about Sonja, Just Another Day is about being less hard on herself and finding optimism in life, etc.

That promo is supposed to be written in the style of a magazine or flyer, not Gaga's perspective. That's why you see "Back to her dance roots". They usually say this when artists that have been around for a while come up with a project that resembles their past work. Kind of like Madonna when she released American Life and then she decided to work on Confessions. All of the stuff sorrounding Chromatica is supposed to have a 90's' old/look/sound. It's more like satire I'd say.

Disagree with almost everything. J&D alone shows her head was not in the right place at the right time. You picked three songs off the album lol...Shall we talk about the rest? Swine, Gypsy, Dope, Applause, ARTPOP, Do What U Want

Yeah let's talk about the rest. MANiCURE aged like milk same with Gypsy , Sexxx Dreams and almost all of it

Also disagree what you want at this point it's obvious she doesn't care for that album anymore

I don’t get how some people thought that she was dissing Joanne with that flyer. It seems to me like they’re projecting their own feelings on the album onto her, like when they claim Gaga hates ARTPOP because she’s occasionally poked fun at it while in reality she’s never shown anything but love for it.

Abandoning by singing two songs from it on Enigma and defending it on her Paper interview... sure luv .

Nnnn :selena:

She literally dodges anything related to it. Remember when Monsters were making their dream set list for Jaonne World Tour with multiple ARTPOP songs and they ended only with Applause and she went with deep cuts from all her albums aside from ARTPOP :huntyga:

Thank you

It was dated upon release

People on this site need to stop calling it her best album because it really isn't :air:

I don't think she has a personal album. Joanne is definitely NOT it. I guess by default, it's Artp0p but it's not that personal.

Every album of hers is personal in some way or another. :laughga:

They just wanna be cool woke enlightened stans, the rest of us can't possibly begin to understand the greatness that is ARTPOP:trollga: I don't hate the album, but it's her weakest, messiest, least cohesive project. G.U.Y, Sexxx Dreams, Donatella, ARTPOP, DWUW and Applause are all good/excellent and I like/love em, but the good sisterns Fashion!, Venus (:messga:) Swine, Dope, Gypsy, MJH, Gypsy and MISS JnD are either below average or truly terrible. It was experimental, it has its place in pop history, but it doesn't have a place on my shelf of top-tier albums

Imagine calling Venus and Mary Jane Holland below average. :poot:

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

That’s not avoiding it luv. She doesn’t bring it up or perform it as much because it’s not one of her biggest commercial of critical successes so it’s obviously gonna be pushed to the side when compared to her BTW or TFM material.

She’s sung stuff from it a couple times since the era ended, she sung Sexxx Dreams and Venus at Coachella, and she’s never talked about the album in any negative way.

The fact that she doesn’t perform it or talk about it more says nothing about her love about the album, but more about preferring to focus on her hits and career highs over an album the GP probably doesn’t remember.

Little Monsters love projecting their feelings about her music onto her. She’s not gonna start hating ARTPOP no matter how much you wish that were the case, and she’s not throwing shade at Joanne on that promo picture no matter how much fans think that’s the case .

I agree that ARTPOP is very personal, but I think Joanne is just as personal.

Diamond Heart, Joanne, Million Reasons, Sinner’s Prayer, Angel Down, Grigio Girls and Just Another Day are all obviously personal. And if we’re going to call Sexxx Dreams and GUY personal, I think we have to include John Wayne and DIC.

What deep cuts did she sing from The Fame or The Fame Monster on JWT?
