Well I mean... Ariana was VERY popular at that point in time... she could have released a fart and it would have sold well :rip:  had Ariana released this pre-Dangerous Woman, or even before Sweetner, she'd have been crucified. Yes they were successful, but there's MUCH better songs on that album than 7 Rings or the title track

Oh yes there are better songs on the album. But the singles did their job and they’re part of the reason the era was massively successful.

She hadn't done RnB before doing Sweetner/TUN though... she mainly did cute pop songs, and then did great pop songs with DW :selena:  TUN (album) was a pretty different direction for her... the only song that maybe you could say she's done a similar song before is Bloodline... very reminiscent of Side To Side.

All her albums are literally R&B/pop, some of them more in the pop direction while some of them in the R&B direction. There is a reasong why she was called a Mariah wannabe. Plus R&B is a genre critics associated her songs  with from the start. And all her albums have roughly the same style with few variations.

'' Electro-pop bangers, a bit of trap and some gospel/soul vocals? '' Which Ariana album I am talking about? You can't name one specifically but this applies to all. 💅

7 Rings is a song heavy on rap influences so it's different at least in this way,

My Everything is predominately pop

Dangerous Woman is predominantly pop

Sweetner is pop and RnB

Thank U, Next is RnB  :vegas:

The bolded I feel represents Dangerous Woman the best. There are songs that are electro pop, songs that are trap-pop, songs that showcase her vocals, songs that are RnB too... its a great all round album.

I literally stan Ariana and I hated 7 Rings with a passion... I hate the fact she doesn't sing on the song and its a talk-rap song. And she can't rap :selena:  Its literally a gloating song about how much she makes... its not that impressive.

Its like Gaga making an album and releasing Cake Like Lady Gaga as a single :rip:  its tragic! Its cute, but not to be taken seriously... and ultimately it should not have been on the album.

7 rings is pretty bland and boring, and this was true about the lead single from TUN. As a stan, I wasn't impressed and I thought I was going to hate the project from the two singles she released before the album. And I NEVER understood why it was so popular.

Imagine should have been a main single, not just a promo single. I would have made that the lead single, second single I would have given to Fake Smile, promo single I would have given to TUN, third single I would have given to BUWYGF, IB, fourth single I would have given to Bloodline, fith single I would have given to Bad Idea, and second promo single (for fans) I would have given to In My Head.

Thank U, Next and 7 Rings are the worst on that album, along with NASA and Needy.

i said what i said nene leakes GIF

Maybe that’s because you liked ariana’s pre-trap eras more? Like to me her new style and this non-singing singing feels way more interesting and less bubbly. Actually I started staning her when sweat-ener and tun’a were released and they’re one of my favorite albums ever. And I hated most of her older songs. So yeah, I think this just depends on the  taste of a listener

I guess so... but how is her "trap/rap" interesting? Its so bland and boring... I mean, she did a trap pop song on DW and lemme tell you, 7 Rings is no Touch It :billie:  She is a vocalist for a reason, and chile, I get my life from them vocals of hers. Yes some of her songs are bubbly, but others are pretty interesting. Infact, Dangerous Woman is one interesting album. Some of Sweetner is gold, and 8 out of 12 songs on TUN are amazing. You really have to go back to Yours Truly and My Everything to get bubbly pop songs
