Electric Chapel is a full euphoria rush from beginning to end so definitely not :rockstar:

Could you remove 'Electric Chapel' from the BTW tracklist and it still be the same album? I dont think so. Electric Chapel brings something to the table no other track does. While most of the rest of the album is determined to beat the pleasure centre of your brain into submission through sheer force, Electric Chapel is icy cool and introspective. It's perhaps a stretch to call a song that features as it's middle 8 Gaga out-sangig an electric guitar 'subtle', but it certainly stands out as one of the more restrained moments on the album.

Also, the song features one of Gaga's most assured displays of vocal dexterity EVER, as she moves between cold and robotic and vulnerable and girlish, before reaching deep into herself for that powerful trademark growl. One of my favourite things about Gaga as a pop songwriter is the way her songs breathe, naturally shifting and contorting, and EC stands out as a particularly fluid song. The way the instrumental gives way almost entirely at the end, except for the icy, propulsive beat, so that Gaga's rawk-Goddess roar is allowed to dominate and re-invent that final chorus from cool Madonna/Kylie-esque fare into something entirely more hot-blooded is one of the best surprises on the album.

The song really nails the fusion of rock and dance, of hot and cold, of humanity and technology that BTW aims for like nothing else on the album. The hammering beats, the guitars, the church bells, the glittering synths, sewn together into something beautiful and delicate. The song perhaps doesn't jump out initially as an obvious jazz-hands, 'look at me, Mom!' highlight of the album, but it is, for me, among its definitive moments.

It was always good, I actually think it's one of the songs that has gotten better with time as well.

If we want to talk about fillers on BTW, can we talk about how Bad Kids does Hair's thing of trying to relate to misunderstood, rebellious kids (but not as well), does Judas's thing of having slightly grungy verses and incongruously campy choruses (but not as well), and does Just About Everything Else on Born This Way's thing of pairing electric guitars and dance beats (but not as well)? An absolute wisp of a song, if you were to remove it from the tracklist, there's be little difference made to the vibe of the album at all, except for the advantage of brevity.

No. This song is criminally underrated and on my top 3 of BTW. Its musical combination is just so clever. Whoever thinks otherwise please leave the drugs.

It’s like a perfect amalgamation of electro-pop and hard rock. It’s fab

It encapsulates the entire album just like Applause does with AP. It's not a filler. Whoever says so has been living a lie.

I'll WRECK U right Up...G.U.Y.!!!🌋💥

Electric chapel is my least favorite Gaga song...

In my opinion it just isn’t that good and it’s not my type of song,

but that’s just me.
