Their albums sell millions even before coming out, their music is critically acclaimed and has constantly been breaking records. So yes, you are ignorant and xenophobic for perpetuating the racial stereotype that only little girls on twitter care about Asian artists.

The thing is, both albums were the most important female albums from their respective years (BEYONCÉ being in the top 10 of best selling records when her album was released 3 weeks before the year ended, and selling more than Taylor if you add the sales from 2013 and 2014) and helped boost the sales of albums. Also, Beyoncé made a great impact on music dropping the album with all those music videos with zero promotion and stopping the internet. What I meant on my post is, they are both just pop records that are not as groundbreaking conceptually than others in AOTY category? Yeah, maybe, but if that's true, why Beyoncé lost to an white artist who had and 'better' (lyrically, conceptually, sonically) album, and Taylor won against a black artist who had a 'better' (lyrically, conceptually, sonically) album? What's the difference here? Grammys have a gender bias and a songwriter/musician bias. Considering the majoirty of voters are pop/rock musicians, they will obviously prefer that. The only artists to win a big Grammy without being a traditional songwriter/musician are Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Beyonce. And why plenty of black artists have won big awards when making safe/traditional music (Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston) Rap, and also hard rock and heavy metal would be the opposite of that. Which is why they do poorly.

The point I'm trying to make is not that black artists should be awarded got being black but when you look at all the albums that get nominated for album of the year every year, you start to notice why are these successful and acclaimed albums they make get ignored EVERY YEAR, while albums that haven't made as big of an impact in their respected genres always won. And those albums are always by white singers the past decade. Black artists have to try twice as hard to get noticed, they're the ones breaking new ground, being musically innovative, selling millions of albums and topping all the critics lists. They're the ones bringing pop and rap music to the next level. And they're still jot good enough. What do they have to do to win album of the year because making good music, selling a lot of albums, and being critically acclaimed is not enough. Pennywise 36,079
My head is spinning from the level of delusion in this thread honestly. Why are y'all arguing over personal opinions , like, it's not like an album or any piece of art can be "objectively" good Y'all didn't know the Grammy voters were old crones paid for by recording companies? Why even bother to fight each other about that So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

DavidLuis198 1,146
Also, the Grammy may not be racist as in wearing KKK robes and pitchforks and killing people, but there are many levels on racism, and, downplaying the cultural importance and quality from a minoritie (be black, asian, indigenous, latino and etc) is something that has roots on racism I don't know how to write in english

Just because you don’t listen to it doesn’t mean only twitter girls like it. My mom is a college professor and she’s obsessed with Kpop. Broaden your horizons. But my point is, the bias in the genre of music rather than the color of the skin. Nobody is gonna do well with hip hop regardless of their skin color for the reasons I mentioned already. I'm not saying thats right, but that is the way it is. The Grammys have ALWAYS preferred safe/traditional. It's even the progresive rock stars who were leading the way in the 70s/80s were ignored too. They were not safe. When black artists make safe music, they do well. The Grammys need younger voters who are more in tune to progressive sounds. That is the issue.
