Museums, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, libraries, parks and beaches will also be able to reopen, subject to the same social distancing rules. Provincial parks will re-open for day use in time for the Victoria Day long weekend (May 16-18). All businesses will have to comply with new regulations around maintaining social distancing and avoiding COVID-19 transmission risk. If transmission rates remain low, hotels and resorts can reopen in June. Also in June, parks can reopen broadly — including overnight camping — and the film industry can get back to work. In July, movie theatres and outdoor symphonies will be permitted. The K-12 school system will reopen in September. Government modelling shows that society can go back to no more than 60 per cent of what it was before COVID-19 without risking a spike in transmission. British Columbians can almost double the amount of social contacts (double the bubble) they have and still maintain a flat transmission rate.
