Beautiful song and beautiful cover. I really like the choice of the octaves in which you're playing it.

I felt like it was higher than the original song which was a cute feeling for the piano cover.

I tend to play things either original or lower because I have a low voice and I sing with it (and I want people to hear more than just the piano :ladyhaha:), so the high is a nice change for me.

melodies shine brighter in the higher octaves, they sound more dreamy, of course when the pianist has to do its work all attention is focused on harmony so obviously in lower octaves since the melody belongs to the singer

I have always wished to make a youtube channel following your kind of format, analyzing Gaga songs using a music student's point of view (not like Ajayii whom is never objective and is completely clueless about the science of music), explaining why she choose certain melodic tricks, her composition style, how to recognize between a song she wrote and a song she co-wrote since she has certain habits in composition especially harmonic progression etc etc but your analyses are surely as interesting as, her songs are full of psychology too.

May I suggest Stuck on ****ing You for that analysis? :)

The thing with that song is it's modally very free and sounds weird during the chorus but it's really all tonal. Some pitches are off by a few cents (and intentionally so or she would've corrected before releasing). And somehow it creates a very pleasant discordance.

I think every kind of reaction has its place. Whether its purely naive or thematic or music theory based.

Even though I never liked that song, it is very interesting. It sounds inspired by the ragtime genre (e.g. Stand By Me by Ben King), as there is only one chord characterized by 2/4 triplets that are basically a consecution of three semitones, so the mid note sounds out-of-tune-ish. The melody is very monotonous too though so I always considered it a rather obnoxious song. Bjork often uses that kind of harmony too.

I'd say Teeth is the only other vaguely ragtime-inspired song in her discography.

Bad Kids

You're very talented, @Yxilon! Love your cover of MTN! If you could do more recordings of other songs it'll be so perfect :flutter: This version is beautiful, one of the best I've heard.

And when you say my name, like white horses on the waves, I think it feels the same, as an ocean in my veins.
