It’s just a ploy for a few fans to get their favorite artists attention and it’s working but the truth is this - nothing groundbreaking or noteworthy is happening when ancient albums are going #1 on iTunes every other day. Oh and for people trying to get ARTPOP to go number 1, just stop. It already did in 2013. No need to come off as desperate just because CHROMATINEVERGONNAHAPPENCA is delayed until 2030. No need to be rude I don’t intend to be rude and I love Britney. Take no offense! The fact is these albums are barely selling anything at all and it’s delusional to celebrate a #1 album on iTunes for only selling a couple hundred copies in a day at a bargain sale price as if it just smashed records or something. It’s nostalgic and cute but it’s not a miracle and very easy for a tiny subset of a fan base to accomplish. And if it happens for Gaga I won’t blink an eye. I’m way more proud that ARTPOP sold almost 800k in the states after being slaughtered by the press and the GP than some die hard fans buying a couple hundred copies on sale to get it #1 on an irrelevant platform for a few hours. Just trying to put things in perspective and be realistic. So many old albums have been going #1 there for barely moving any copies and their fans are getting the artists to notice and celebrate - again, it’s nostalgic and fun for fans/artists but I also don’t think a lot of these artists realize just how small the sales are.
