The Fame is pretty cohesive? The theme of the entire album is related to all the tracks. TFM is a little more obscure but all in all a cohesive album. BTW seems to have such a broad range of styles that is seems a little less cohesive than the other two. ARTPOP...well, I dunno. I think it's cohesive, and the EDM style is present throughout the entire album. Joanne too, in its own genre.

I still think, despite how much people **** on it on here, that The Fame has the most cohesion across the board. The genre, the lyrics, the themes, the production. But what do I know? 🤷🏻‍♂️

This really made me realize that Gaga doesn't have a non-cohesive album. Truly one of the greatest pop discographies of all time.

ARTPOP says hi. This doesn't mean it's a bad album. The ARTPOP iTunes festival is my favorite live set ever.

Thematically, The Fame Monster is the most cohesive since according to Gaga, the album represents her fears in each track like:

Fear of Love = Bad Romance

Fear of Men = Alejandro

Fear of Sex = Monster

Fear of Loneliness = Dance in the Dark

Fear of Death = Speechless

Fear of Alcohol = So Happy I Could Die

Fear of Suffocation = Telephone

Fear of Truth = Teeth

and all The Fame Monster's songs sound more consistent to me because all the songs have that dark-ish sound.

Joanne for me has the themes of heartbreak, family, and death/grievance. It could be cohesive but Dancing In Circles (a song basically about touching oneself in an album dedicated to her deceased aunt) and John Wayne (a song about fantasizing to have a bad-boy lover) feels out-of-place in the theme and sound of Joanne. No shade to DIC and JW, I love both songs lol

Also people should stop comparing albums, we know that most people only vote to save their favorite album no matter what the question is

Im really reading replies here to check who has done good research  :huntyga: to know which album really weighs in being "cohesive" as to their development, lyrics, concepts/themes, singles, mv, promos, interviews, live performances and etc.

but i guess some are just more subjective which is really not that bad :ally:

I think thematically, none of her albums are very cohesive. They have maybe one or two strong themes in several songs but nothing where I can say the whole album is cohesive. I don’t think this is a bad thing though. Gaga’s fanbase is so big and diverse, I think her and label make sure to put a variety of songs in an album to appeal to a wide array of people. I do think cohesive albums generally do better in award shows and with the critics. That being said, I think the album that comes close is Born This Way. It has a general theme of empowerment (Hair, Born This Way, Bad Kids, Scheibe, Americano, Highway Unicorn) and a complicated love story (Judas, You and I, Heavy Metal Lover).

Musically though, I think all her albums are very cohesive. They all have a strong dominant musical theme/mood/style and Gaga experiments with it in interesting ways. Like Born This Way was very synth heavy/80s glam rock/pop but she incorporated genres like opera, Spanish music, and techno

I'm surprised to see people voting for Joanne.

Sound wise, all of Gaga's albums are cohesive, but when it comes to the theme, Joanne is her least cohesive album. Imagine calling your record after your father's sister but mentioning your family only three times on the album:enigma:

(this is not about quality, just about how the songs fit the theme that Gaga helself described)

Diamond Heart: ✔️

A-YO:

Joanne: ✔️

John Wayne: 〰️

Dancin In Circles:

Perfect Illusion: 〰️

Million Reasons: 〰️

Sinner's Prayer:

Come To Mama:

Grigio Girl: ✔️

Just Another Day: 〰️

It's weird because I get what you are saying, BTW is super cohesive as an era and visually. The album for me has some issues regarding how the tracks flow and some sound super quiet because where they are fitted (Heavy Metal Lover). I also think there's too many tracks on it. Even if I consider it messy to listen to with it's original tracklist it remains my go to album

About Joanne, I never thought about that and you are absolutely right :ladyhaha: The only thing that justifies DIC (which is the best song on the album in my opinion) is that it does fuse some country sounds.

BTW is definitely too long yes, and some songs could definitely have been cut to make it more cohesive and make the message clearer. And IMO the mixing on the album overall is pretty bad, you could never say the album sounds "clean" or "polished" for sure. However the length does kind of add to the overall epic and grand feel of the era... nothing was tamed or pared back, she went alllll out with every aspect.
