Not releasing You and I as the first or second single was the biggest missed opportunity of that album cycle.  You and I literally got 2 years of promo from the monster ball etc and went number one on iTunes immediately after release. Also I liked with RedOne said he thought Fashion of his Love should have been a single...interesting idea

they saw it as a great opportunity to profit off some controversy that ended up backlashing.

I'm afraid this is when most people started to see Gaga as a gimmick. She should've gone like Madonna did with True Blue. Dumped all the copy cats and reinvented herself in a more 'classy' way.

I'll WRECK U right Up...G.U.Y.!!!🌋💥

Judas is better than Scheisse, :ohwell:

However, I rather would've wanted TEOG as the 2nd single

You and I - The Edge of Glory - Fashion of his Love - Scheisse

:ohwell:

middle america loved that one tbf

i think i woulda gone:

Born This Way (perfect intro to the era)-The Edge Of Glory (def woulda gone #1)-Judas (perfect song and video, i love offending religious people)-Marry The Night (wouldnt have flopped as the fourth)-Yoü & I (woulda been seen as a reinvention, the south would live and we’d have 5 top tens)-Heavy Metal Lover (wouldnt do amazing on radio but coulda had a great video)

I don't know if the Judas release was due to the Born This Way response (which was extremely good by the way apart from the Madonna comparisons).

I just felt like the release was planned ? :oprah:  But maybe I'm missing something.

I do agree that Judas sounds like a classic Gaga track but (in my opinion) it's a pale and cheap copy of Bad Romance  :ohwell:

Scheibe is gold, it's Gaga x300 . Was radio ready for it? We'll never know.

I thought the choice of singles was pretty good for the Born This Way era, there was just so many good songs we just wanted everything as singles :messga: Scheibe, Heavy Metal Lover... god even Government Hooker :pole:

But I was happy with Born This Way, Edge Of Glory and Marry The Night. And You and I was a perfect single for the locals

Kind regards

Yes

Yes I do know, but if fans in other places were complaining, we would have talked about it here.

It could've been worse

Imagine if they release Scheisse? A nightmare

I thought Judas was released because Born This Way (song) had the lyrics: "God makes no mistakes."

I always thought Gaga released Judas to show her Little Monsters to not worry - she's still an atheist. :laughga: Oops!

Then God came and punished her career because of it. :wtfga:

Is this true, or have I been using too much of that Mary Jane (Holland)? :what:

Let’s be real.. Judas was released because she wanted controversy and shock.

I agree that You and I was soooo late at the party. It's a great song but damn it was late.

Fashion of His Love is one of my favourites, it really is a 80s dream, very "I wanna dance with somebody" by Whitney, which I love. I'm at peace with it not being a single though.

Kind regards

I'm sure she wanted You and I to be a single sooner ... I just don't think she ever thought it would be possible or worth the fight.
