TimisaMonster 31,073
Where are the fans that said Gaga isn't in charge of Haus Labs and it isn't "her" company??? I'm waiting... Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify!

Program costs are the expenses that are directly related to the work they do—donations, studies, programs, etc their overhead/administration costs account for the remaining 1/3–that’ll include salaries and everything These guys are surprisingly small so it looks like they may not have the same filing and audit requirements I thought they’d have (there are different levels of requirements based on income/assets/etc). We have local nonprofits in my smallish/midsize city that have more cashflow Cynthia isn’t getting rich from this. And the risk of getting caught with any tax evasion bullshit FAR outweighs the benefits given how small it is Thanks

Modern Ecstasy2 2,202
When I was at Enigma last year (maybe others who were at any of the shows remember this), I stopped by the BTWF table after, to talk to people from Find Your Anchor, a US-based non profit that does suicide prevention work. You could sign up with them to have a suicide prevention box sent to you, so I got one to bring for the youth I work with. It took over 3 months for them to get it to me because of their association with Gaga, they became flooded with requests for boxes. But that wasn’t even BTWF, it was just another non profit they were supporting, who are actually doing concrete work and providing resources to people. I’ve always been wary of BTWF. How can you say you’re advocating for better mental health without even having a crisis line or something. “Delete this thread that person is not Gaga he is a hot blonde twink”
Antoni 5,332
I just think it's kind of questionable and not very humble to be like "I'm going to take $1 from Haus Labs (me) and give it to BTWF (also me). I care so much about charity (me)." My name isn't Timmers

I think a big portion of what they do is foundational, and in support of other specialized organizations? Like with what you said- in this event, they were supporting Find Your Anchor/vice versa. I've worked within the community non-profit/corporate CSR sector before, and the impression I get is that the BTWF acts almost like a philanthropic structure for other specialized, or regional, organizations that are in line or adjacent with their core statements. It seems they occasionally do direct work, too (education and trauma resource funding for those areas affected by the massive US shootings last year, etc). 3 points in and ready for more
Stef 61,598
I’m seeing a lot of controversy on social media mainly my Facebook about how she’s basically using one of her companies to benefit her charity, is there really an issue with it? Can someone educate me on this? Signature loading… 👹🖤
lgaga1fan 2,305
She said they're doing it for mental health awareness month. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal to be getting upset over...

I would agree if this were an isolated statement, but considering the prior donations Haus Labs has made directly to food banks and resource centers during the beginning of the pandemic, and Gaga's work with the WHO/Global Citizen, I think it's just semantics. 3 points in and ready for more

Can someone educate me on this? There's precedence in that this has been done (by other companies before, of course) to avoid taxations , I think. But @blankpaper made a pretty comprehensive analysis about how that is unlikely with the BTWF, considering its structure. 1 minute ago, lgaga1fan said: She said they're doing it for mental health awareness month. I mean, if an org is “just” providing funding to other specialized organizations, that’s still awesome, as non profits always need money to keep their programs running. It would kinda be cool if BTWF could expand in the future to do direct work with service users. “Delete this thread that person is not Gaga he is a hot blonde twink”
Modern Ecstasy2 2,202
@Runway not gonna quote you cause it’s quite long, but thank you for looking that up & sharing! There’s actually a couple of organizations in there that are in the city I live in! I had no idea they were supported by BTWF, that’s very cool. “Delete this thread that person is not Gaga he is a hot blonde twink”

And not just with funding, but on the ground as well. But as of now, I'm glad they're doing what they're doing. They remind me of United Way, in a sense. 3 points in and ready for more

It just so happens that from today onwards $1 from every purchase will go to her charity.
