the Enigma song

First of all, excuse my illiteracy. Second, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before on one of the multiple thousand millions Chromatica threads, guess I'll just rant by myself in that case.

A song titled Enigma existed all along. It's not a fake title on a fake tracklist this time.

Where was this song the whole past year? 

I feel fooled. I'd prefer to live in a reality where either the enigma song doesn’t exist or her residency was not titled like that since it didn’t feature a new song. 

Let's rewind:

Remember when the title of her residency leaked in 2018, then was later confirmed: ENIGMA. we were all excited. It sounded like a song/project. Something, even if just a single, was DEFINITELY coming along. No one on earth on gagadaily expected the residency to have just a "best hits" tracklist. Otherwise, it would have been named something else like "Lady Gaga Residence" Or "Lady Gaga Vegas Ball" or something like that. But no, that title clearly indicated something new was coming, plus, Gaga had indeed been working for sometime and we had all the rights to believe that.

Fast forward:

guess what mimi, nothing. We were the fools to expect something. That title didn't lead to anything.
Many of us lost our interest in a perhaps very enjoyable and creative show mainly because it was not bringing anything new to support it. Of course it was Lady Gaga, of course it's a great show. Lady Gaga is amazing. But the only Enigmatic thing about Enigma was we didn't know what the **** was going on.

Now, let's skip all the meltdowns for when we thought it was going to be revamped. Having she said the album was going to be a surprise, we were always on the edge for any extra special performance as well, but that's our fault. 

Looking back at 2019, Enigma turned out to be just a best hits show. At the end of the day we surrendered to that and accepted it.
 

Knock knock it's me Chromatica tracklist: Guess what bitch. There has always been an Enigma song. All along.

My thoughts exactly. She should’ve either released it during the residency or not included it in Chromatica cause it just doesn t make sense to release it now

It's a little annoying.

The show is obviously inspired by Chromatica, and it would have made more sense if we had the song (or album) before Enigma started. I think the storyline was probably more inspired by Chromatica's tracklist, but she had to figure out a way to piece all her old songs together because Chromatica wasn't released yet. That's why we got a show of her talking about her besties, flipping people off, getting raped by paparazzi, and riding on giant robots in space tied together with a loose storyline. I still enjoy the show and think the lighting design is beautiful, but I acknowledge it was messy and didn't make as much sense as it could have with Chromatica.

I think that LMs would have been much less upset with the whole concept of a residency/Enigma if she had released the song along with the show.

But perhaps it's just a sentiment to how special the song / album is to her that she waited for everything to be finished for her to release it so we could enjoy it within the context of Chromatica.

I mean, if we eliminate the song Enigma, the word itself, (as unattractive of a word I find it, in the same category as "moist" imo) does represent the concept of Gaga n all & what you're getting when you go to see her show.

But knowing there is a song makes me wonder which came first.. The song? Or the concept for the Vegas show??

If you look at it now, its sorta like how Gaga used "Fame" for her fragrance.  Both an album title & a song title turned into a perfume.  Here we had the song before the perfume.

Same with Britney Spears- her Vegas residency was called "Piece Of Me".  Even if she never had a song called piece of me, the title still works for the concept, being that you're literally getting piece of Britney and everything she's done in her career when you go to see her (same idea as Gaga titling her show Enigma, even if there was no song). but obvi Britney had the song and so they picked a song in her discography that best fit the concept of the show. 

So, did Gaga write Enigma and then pick that to be the title of her show? Was she planning to release LG6 before or during/early on when the residency began? What if LG6 was gonna be called Enigma & had a different concept but then they changed it to Chromatica??

or, was Gaga writing LG6 during her residency and was inspired to create a song called Enigma?

unfortunately this fan base would not be able to handle Lady Gaga playing a song that was not released during a concert or residency. 

it would be non-stop meltdowns about how she hates her fans and she hates music because she will not release the song officially so she can go number one and get all of the acclaim. 

she did that one time when she had glitter and grease during the Monster Ball tour and she will never be able to do that again because of the way that the fan base is changed.

Since ARTPOP dropped (because of Aura) I’ve been wanting her to adopt the “Enigma” persona for an album. I was basically in tears when the residency was announced because I thought I had predicted her new album and I couldn’t believe it was actually happening.

Then Enigma happened to be... this 

I really wish we had gotten a space/futuristic era acting as ARTPOP’s little sister. I feel like that might have been the original plan? It would have been so perfect for the residency. 

I love love love everything about Chromatica but titling the residency that way felt like a waste. 

All we can do is hope for Enigma as a single so it can get a sickening conceptual MV

I feel like the song is just going to be a short interlude with some dialogue about her being "Enigma", as a nod to the show but also herself.
