If you are gonna say "all communities", there's no need to single them out :saladga:

Yes and no. It’s kinda the same argument we’ve been having over the “All Lives Matter” vs “Black Lives Matter” movements. One sounds all encompassing and almost dismissive, the other statement is outright saying “yes, this means you.”

He should NOT have singled out the Jewish community like that, what a mess :rip:

But if they’re the ones gathering then they need to be recognized in the statement so they know it’s for them. Also, he said the Jewish community & ALL communities, so Chile. When did it suddenly become politically incorrect to acknowledge & identify people? Like ffs

Oh Lord. This is not comparable to Black Lives Matter.

All Lives Matter was created to silence black people. Period. Certain people couldn’t handle people being proudly black and decided using an all encompassing term was the most effective way to silence them.

Yup. Insert any other community in that tweet and there would be an uproar.

It’s never a good idea optic-wise to single out groups in a threatening manor. Even if a certain segment of said group is violating orders.

The problem is that some communities don’t see themselves as part of THE community because they feel historically ignored and like outliers. Absolutely NO fault to them, let me stress, but it never hurts to say someone’s name if you’re speaking directly to them.

I bet being singled out and threatened publicly by the mayor will sure make them feel welcome :rip:

really I don't think thats true at all. I can see Jewish replaced with christian or evangelical communities without backlash (at least at this site) tbh

It’s true for me. I wouldn’t like being singled out like that by a public official. But that’s just me. Y’all don’t have to feel the same.

The only think I’m saying is comparable is the “everyone” vs “this specific group” lingo. A general tweet saying “Just a reminder EVERYONE should stay home” is not as effective as a statement directly to the group that is ignoring the original statement.

Ever been in class not paying attention when the teacher asks for attention? Would you not pay more attention if they singled you out specifically?

I don't think its that big of a deal. Maybe a little clumsy but you have to look at the intentions too. I'm sure this wasn't with xenophobic or racist intentions.

Could he also force all singers from NYC to release their albums? :gayhat:

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

I don’t think it’s quite a “threat” if you’re just reminding someone the rules also apply to them. He wasn’t proposing that there would be tighter rules for the Jewish community, just stressing that they have to obey the same ones.

Now, if he set up specific rules for the Jewish community, that would 100% be an issue.

But since when and why is a tweet the place to announce this. Now that's the real shocker for me

It seems so unprofessional
