Even after Lady Gaga explained that they have similar chord progressions, I still don't hear similarities. The only place that I heard a similarity was an adlib before the second chorus, but that was it.

But I am bias because I think BTW is her best album and as far as comparing her work, I don't think she'll ever be able to top it for me. As much as I enjoy all of her albums.

I think Gaga did contact M's team and they said they approved of it and then it was a shock to us and Gaga when Madonna called it reductive. I think Gaga might have said something about it at some of the following BTWB shows but I can't remember as it was so long ago.

For all we know, this is a PR stunt from both camps to make people talk. Which, news flash, is what all those "feuds" are all about. But y'all are not ready for that conversation

There were all kinds of weird rumours going around about this. One was Perez Hilton told her to say it because he had direct contact with Madonna and he told Gaga Madonna liked the song. Another scenario is that Madonna's manager actually had a secret meeting with Troy Carter at the time just before BTW was released to radio. Troy was the one that told Gaga Madonna liked the track and was flattered but she wanted some press out of it and thought it would be fun to continue the little feud thing the fans had going on. But Gaga didn't want to do that and ultimately Madonna threw shade & Gaga under the bus and denied ever giving her blessing to purposely create drama and press. We will never know what really happened.
