I think Again Again, Retro Dance Freak, Brown Eyes and Disco Heaven are better than all the other non-single tracks on The Fame (except for Beautiful Dirty Rich) :ally:

Cool! Lol it’s tricky to judge taste regarding Gaga’s music, since it’s so different from anything else out there!

Ok,

Although I don’t think ARTPOP is Gaga’s best album, It’s definitely my go-to favourite. Mainly due to how fresh, bright and heavy the production is. Honestly sometimes I wish Born This Way’s production had got the same treatment (although I do love it’s darker and dirtier distortion). I also think that ARTPOP really shows off the power of her vocals. On that album they are ultra-clean and pure (since she seems to sing differently on each album).

I turn to ARTPOP also because of the artwork/visuals used for that era, which is by far some of her best, with HD bold minimalism all set against clean white spaces.

Hard to say what my favourite song is cuz it keeps changing. I loved Venus when it came out due to how psychedelic and euphoric it is. I love the filthy beat in Aura, and the steamy grooves in Sex Dreams. I’m sorry but Jewels n Drugs is a jarring mess and does not fit on the album at all. It would have worked ok as a Gaga feature on one of the rappers albums perhaps, but definitely not on ARTPOP. I also don’t like Dope. As emotional as it is I find it too ugly to listen to and it completely breaks away from the album’s mutating high-energy. It’s also too much of a Meat Loaf impersonation. Also since I’ve also gone through the traumas of drug addiction, I think the song is too whiny and self-pitying, when it could have been more of a powerful message/awareness song towards drug addiction (like TIHTY was towards abuse).

I will always love Born This Way but on it’s downside I sometimes find it slightly tacky (musically and visually), and the production quality of the music is a step down from The Fame Monster. On the upside it houses some of her most imaginative experimentation musically and visually (with the darker songs like Judas, Heavy Metal Lover, Scheiße, Government Hooker and Bloody Mary being my highlights). However other songs seem to recycle the same beats, cords and effects which can be underwhelming. Also some of the songs are too ‘cute’ for my tastes.

Joanne is an interesting one. Being a lover of her electronic bangers, I was originally disappointed by it. I also found it to be surprisingly dull, due to Mark Ronson’s past huge hits and Gaga’s usual high-energy. (Also the cowboy visual aesthetic isn’t really my thing). It’s also quite inconsistent with each song taking a totally different direction and vibe. But once I got past that I admired the simplicity and rawness of the music, which houses some very well written songs. Also Gaga’s voice is incredibly raw and often sounds in pain. I think I prefer Joanne (the song) to Million Reasons as it’s far more tear-jerking. I think my highlights are Diamond Heart and A-Yo.

The Fame I like (not love), and The Fame Monster is just an absolute classic. Despite being such a short album (EP if you will), it makes up for it with truly original and powerful dark synth pop and well-written imaginative hooks.

Sorry I snapped lol.

(Just to say that I am a self-trained music producer and an art scholar so I do consider my taste to be good albeit definitely a strange sense of taste haha, and I’m not actually that bigger fan of modern pop music (preferring more alternative genres like new-wave/darkwave/rave/trip-hop/future-disco/techno etc), but I’ve always been drawn to Gaga’s electronic music due to how fun, creative, imaginative, visual and unique it is.)

Judge away x

I'm fine, Ta

Bad Romance is criminally overrated.

I agree a whole lot. Especially the music video. It hyped me up at the time, but she's made a lot better. Hell, even John Wayne is a better video to me.

Well I wouldnt go as farrrrr, butttt I feel like Bad Romance is very dated to me as a song, EVEN though it really still is very much iconic! As for the music video, John Wayne might be one of her worst music videos...imo, alongside Million Bisons.
