Smother Em Eh 7,155
After Twitter started blowing up about how Gaga is the new queen of pop and Ariana is the new pop princess (which I don’t agree with). Then people (especially Madonna and Britney stans) were saying only Madonna and Britney were at pop legend level. And it got me thinking! Is Gaga on Pop Legend level like Madonna and Britney are? I would say Madonna, Britney and Gaga would be the ultimate pop legend group. We all know why Gaga is probably atleast a soon to be legend if not already. I think in 10 years she could officially be cemented as a Pop Legend or atleast “The Pop Legend of the late 00’s- early 10’s”. Even if she isn’t a Pop Legend, she certainly is up there in terms of iconicess. What are your thoughts Little Monsters! Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views! rasclautmangos 2,746
I think that Gaga is in a league of her own. But to compare, She's definitely going to be a Madonna/Barbara Streisand mix of a legend.
vyniildisk 12,689
I loooooove Britney but, honest question, is she on the same level as Madonna and Gaga? pls dont hate me, she just seem so out of it, no sales, no nothing, ive been checking up on her obsessively lately and impact is nowhere to be found and it really surprises me because i am shook at some of her work, like Toxic, Gimme More, Scream n Shout
Stephen 30,432
Of course it's not the exact same situation, but at this point in 2020 I don't think it's at all delusional or biased to call Gaga the new queen of pop, it's just factual.
Eggs 2,860
Gaga is at or has surpassed Britney's status as a pop culture icon. She can never reach Madonna's cultural significance however.
Hyperballad 4,310
Tbh I don’t think it’s fair to compare them because Madge has been in the business about 40 years/Britney about 20 with Gagz who’s only been here about 10 years. But even just 10 years in, I think she’s surpassed Britney tremendously. I still think she (nor anyone else) will compare to Madonna in terms of royalty and legendary status. It’s not a read, but Madge has just done so much that she’s beyond just an ‘influential pop star’ But I definitely think she will cement herself as a legend/pop icon in the coming years. It’s certain at this point.
PlasticPrincess 636
Gaga reached that status after she dropped BTW period. I know it sounds biased and ridiculous BUT she was literally the most famous woman on the planet in 2011.. still today prob. Especially after the Oscars... she's been pop royalty sweetie

I personally don’t think she’s on Madonna or Gaga’s level AT ALL and I don’t think she’s as legendary as people think she is. She certainly has some bops though and cemented her place in pop culture. Tresor 1,649
It's unclear if she's at Madonna's level yet, but I'd argue she has surpassed Britney by a lot.

The way other females look up to her is kind of almost nearing Madonna level, in her respective generation. Starting to feel like she has more influence than Britney even though Britney opened the door for Gaga. The way the biggest artists from the past few years like Ariana and Cardi (and even Katy) all act round her, how they look up to her, how she's there for Kesha and Kesha goes to her. She's like a mother icon to some of her younger peers. Even Taylor had a sense of fangirling with Gaga. She dines with living legends like Barbra, is admired by the Goddess of Pop, is close friends with British pop royalty (Elton) and American treasure (Tony). MJ wanted her to open for him on his last tour, it's like he knew. She's now closer to the EGOT than pretty much all her female peers, including Madonna and Britney, so you know, she has a different kind of career. Madonna is the ultimate queen, no denying and three of them led in from one another. Gaga has her own throne in a sense - she knew what she meant when she said that 7 years ago. In my eyes, she's very much a legend already.
NFRatwell 23,290
I think I kind of give legendary status when it’s obvious someone is seasoned. Gaga spent 2014-2019 doing just that. Her image really changed and I look at her now and I think shes achieved so much and has gone through a period of development artistically where she’s now a legend. I don’t see Britney as a legend because of this. Obviously she’s an icon though. But yeah, when I see Gaga and Madonna, I think they are both respectfully matured and seasoned artists. Some pop stars have yet to go through this though, which is ok. It’s fine to take a while or even just stay an icon. I think if Gaga kept putting out volumes of ARTPOP today she’d be in the same boat as Britney. Nothing wrong with that again.
Gypsy 3,826
Gaga is on her own path Britney has more memorable hits though but they're in such different of career (GP wise).

TropicOfCANCER 6,292
not madonna, but sorry...she's far exceeded britney. britney's career was really only 1999-2003, and then a brief (hype-based) comeback in 2009-2011.
