Nothing could compete with Shallow at that point. Shallow is the entire movie in a song, so unique. ARUTW is a masterpiece but  it doesn't have that "A Star is Born" thing as Shallow.

It was a movie and it's soundtrack after all, it did better than expected, won an Oscar and stayed on top for like a year? Isn't Shallow the most awarded song on history?

We're not saying that Shallow was not the right choice. We just think that a great song like ARUTW deserved some spotlight and could draw more people into the movie as well.

It was a classic song that many people would sing it in karaokes, so it could draw more attention on top of the attention that shallow was already drawing.

No. The movie came out, it did well in awards season - that's it. I know I'm in the minority, but I don't think ARUTW had a chance as a single. I really like the song, but I don't think it would have charted as high as people think. Shallow was the song for the "era", which to me just feels like any regular movie press junket.

Maybe release ARUTW. Its the Gaga song that had the most potential of being big. I mean it has over 400m streams on Spotify, 300m views on Youtube, its Diamond in France and it was nominated for SOTY at the Grammys.

It could have, and I'm a bit surprised they didn't push more songs. I guess they got so much from Shallow that it was really all the promo they needed/wanted.

I think the era was done perfectly and I wouldn’t change anything, although I will say Always Remember Us This Way is one of her best songs off of any project, I would have loved to see it be a hit.

Obviously not. What kind of coping mechanism is this?

Just because CHROMATICA era is such a mess ridden with leak after leak, doesn't mean ASIB era which is much more shinier, need to be extended, especially when it already served its sole purpose: promoting the film itself. To keep pushing it is just gonna ruin its legacy. Even Titanic didn't do that, or Frozen, for that matter, and it got one of the most memorable yet overplayed song ever.

No thanks. I love A Star Is Born and agree that the soundtrack had a lot of potential singles and GREAT songs like Always Remember Us This Way, I'll Never Love Again and maybe even Is That Alright but that'd have dragged the promotion way too long and probably step on Shallow's success, which was the main single they went for.

Had the movie been huge like Titanic or something like that then I can see it having 2-3 singles but come on, Bohemian Rhapsody won that Golden Globe for Drama and pretty much got overshadowed by so many other great movies.

Edit: Remember when Gaga won the Oscar in February and y'all thought she'd release Chromatica the next friday? :billie:

I think it’s went on longer than even she expected. I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get small gigs but that’s all.

Nope the era is fine as it is.

I think servicing ARUTW as a sort of “final” single to tide the time would have been alright. It’s a great song, and had incredible reception, so I don’t doubt that it would have done alright if there was some effort in doing some sort of minimal promotion with it.

Not necessarily to “extend” ASIB, but rather to showcase its glory.
