Snorlax 6,371
USC has estimated that in Los Angeles alone there could be as many as 400,000 infected already. I hope this all means the mortality rate is significantly lower than what we believe it to be since we are only testing those who show severe symptoms. Cuomo estimates based on this study that it is 0,5%. The experts always said that the mortality rate is between 0,1% - 0,5%.

Whispering 18,865
1.26 million dead in the US from just letting this run. About what was estimated beforehand. As previously explained, you’ve got to spread it out, to keep the medical system from being overwhelmed and keeping first responders, essential workers, etc. as safe as possible. We actually cant say at the moment what strategy will work better for the long run. Keep in mind the 0,5% is an interpretation. And while this strategy seems to have its advantages, some experts believe that it will keep the virus stronger for a longer time. And again, we are talking only about deaths from the virus. We dont count the effects at the moment. Hopefully, we will remmember to also do that.

We actually do know that we don’t want to overwhelm our medical system. We are certain that we don’t have treatment or a vaccine and that we don’t know much about the virus at this time. More time buys knowledge, testing, and hopefully some advances. I don't understand your last two statements.

Perhaps your statements had nothing to do with my original reply. I've talked about the interpretation of the data from this study, that the lockdown strategy may keep the virus stronger for longer time and about the ignored bad effects of the lockdowns. U respond it with general statements about the healthcare system and the fact that we can learn more about the virus, so nothing in direct response to my statements.
