hELXIG 42,954
I think the reason some people here are feeling this is because we watch every interview! Regular people catch an interview here or there when it crosses their radar, so she's gotta keep her message consistent. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. MelbHawker 6,583
I don't feel like her kindness message is forced at all.. it's been so constant in all of her work and in her public appearances. It's totally genuine. Sometimes, the tone in which she talks about it though feels a little put on. It's like she's stuck in this ultra happy, delusional trance bubble when she talks about it and that's what sometimes irks me.

In German a kind means a kid like in kindergarten. If you check the etymology it related to the word kin as in family. Middle English kinde, from Old English (ge)cynde "natural, native, innate," originally "with the feeling of relatives for each other," from Proto-Germanic *kundi- "natural, native," from *kunjam "family" (see kin) https://www.etymonline.com/word/kind You get that sense when people say kind of like. Just let her be, if she wants to tone down and express herself on a more human way, so be it. I think gaga is a bit tired of being seen as extravagant and people expecting her to do things in an iconic way. Slaying isn't everything, dear. "And I still love you even if I can't see you anymore."

imnotyourbabe10 6,100
The whole kindness and mindfulness movements, as of late, do come off as somewhat disingenuous. They tend to lean more individualistic (e.g., "self-care") rather than collective. While both of these are important to society, the capitalist-hijacking of the Eastern traditions (such as mindfulness and meditation) is such a turn off. Everyone has a book, podcast or YouTube channel about it. I am not saying to do away with the concepts but, instead, to be careful of the source. OT: With Gaga, she can keep doing her philanthropic work

Mean Winchester 410
No, I'm actually excited for the album EVEN MORE if it gives us kindness vibe more than anything else! I don't know, I agree that Born This Way is about confidence side of kindness while this current era is about the vulnerable side of it. I'd love CHROMATICA to have full of lighthearted kindness theme songs.

The only thing that bugs me is the "kindness punks" thing lol. Other than that, this kindness thing is consistent with her message since day one. I also agree that it seems to come from her overcoming trauma/mental illness. As someone who has followed a similar trajectory to her from a psychological standpoint (at least from what she's told us), I've also come to the conclusion that when you or someone you know is suffering on such a deep, clinical level, the easiest and best thing you can do is to be kind to them. Because we're not doctors. Lend people an ear, be gentle and patient with them, reassure them that you love them. I think it's a smart and responsible message for her to take on, because while she does speak out about mental and physical illness, she is not a doctor herself. So "being kind" is the most effective and responsible thing she can suggest as a public figure.

Plus a lot of people agree with me if you go and look at the reactions on that comment so I'm not being unreasonable at all. I completely stand by that comment. If something Gaga does annoys you and its something she will continue to say over and over again then what's the point in complaining about it? Inferno 2,880
She's really been overdoing it since born this way honestly. She shoehorns it into her music and aesthetic in this way that feels disingenuous even though I think she always comes from a good place. To me it'd be beneficial not just to her image but her creativity to not forcibly put this philanthropist veil over literally everything. Like just make cool sh*t and then you'll change the world like you did with your first record.
