Gaga Faces Backlash in Hong Kong and Taiwan for Calling Tedros A Superstar

So how could anyone blame Gaga when they should be blaming their political leaders. Guess Gaga is the easy one to blame as their president will have them thrown in jail or killed.

Taiwan does not censor anything these days. Taiwan is a democratic country, and it is the first country in East Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. It's considered one of the best places to live in the world, and I'd rather live there than the US if I could. Hong Kong, meanwhile, is trickier because under "one country, two systems" it is technically part of China, but it is supposed to operate according to its own law, which gives the city freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, etc., though those freedoms increasingly are under attack from China. If you look at what's been happening in the past year with the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, you would realize that Hongkongers are fighting with their lives to protect democracy and human rights in their city. You're thinking of mainland China, which is not the country being discussed here. (Also, Asia is the largest continent in the world, and there are several democratic nations in Asia.) 

In the case of Taiwan, they don't need to blame their President, Tsai Ing-wen, for anything. She has done a wonderful job of managing the virus, and Taiwan is one of the only places in the world that hasn't shut down right now because of the virus, and there are very few confirmed cases, and only one (maybe now more) death from it. The problem is that the UN refuses to acknowledge Taiwan as a country, and thus the WHO, which is an arm of the UN, refuses to acknowledge Taiwan, and as @Blue Monster explained above, therefore the WHO has refused to let Taiwan be part of the conversation regarding the virus. This is unfortunate, because the rest of the world could learn from Taiwan's example. There's a video where you can see Bruce Aylward from the WHO ignore a question from a Hong Kong reporter about Taiwan. Since I am not from Hong Kong or Taiwan, I will cite @Blue Monster's post:

The WHO has behaved problematically for sure. I don't think Gaga is aware of any of this, however, and as her mother is a mental health ambassador for WHO, I don't think she would be critical of the organization. In my opinion, this is a case where she was trying to do what she could to help the world during this crisis, and from her viewpoint, joining forces with the WHO seemed to be the best way to achieve her goal. I'm not sure how else she could've gone about things without working with the WHO, as they're the largest global health organization. I am not defending her actions, but I personally don't believe she should be criticized over this when ultimately it's the WHO and UN who should be criticized. But again, I am not from Hong Kong or Taiwan, so I'm not going to tell people from there how to feel, and I can respect that some people are going to be disappointed that she joined forces with the WHO.

Hong Kong influencers are posting that Cynthia is a WHO ambassador. The way Gaga complimented Tedros probably involved money. They are digging deep. I hope Gaga’s hard work the past few years won’t go to trash in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
