Maybe videos for some songs in the coming weeks after the album drop to keep the era afloat, but I doubt they were planning to drop promo singles initially.

Yeah, there were promo singles coming orignally before ROM.

Even then, there’s no reason to pull SL from radio if Free Woman is only gonna be a promo single. Unless there’s a new single coming other than ROM since it is expected to debut with album release and the album is coming last week of May at the earliest.

I think Stupid Love was pulled from radio because its success kept worsening after its first fantastic weeks, and it's not the best to keep spending money for a song that... well, we all know its GP's reception :selena:

Basically, they've just given the final nail in its coffin, freaking undeserved though :bradley:

But they are not wasting money on promotion anymore, right?

Radio? No

Streaming? Very little to nothing because the placements in playlists in general are a MESS.

iTunes? No

Yet they've only pulled it from Pop so far, nothing on HAC or AC.. Still weird for me. I could understand for PI but now..

Ya'll thought (hoped) stupid love was done, huh?

Were they too afraid that callouts would worsen once again?

Keeping a song on the radio does cost: sure, some songs are meant to smash or do well at this format, therefore radio programmers are more willing to play them (Maroon 5 are the perfect example), but they still see a profit, which means they see a quite modest percentage of the song's money entries.

Interscope rightfully thought that Stupid Love wasn't getting them anything else to justify its good radio placement, so they pulled it from radio, and saved some cash

Source: I did an internship on a publishing record company, and let's just say that it was the biggest pain in the a$$ :selena:

Pop has a WAY bigger audience reach than HAC, and AC, therefore the money % they seek has a smaller impact on the total companies get! Also,  let's just say that the latter formats are.. less ageist than the former, 'cause once you hit the 30s, you're basically a relic for them :bradley:

Having top 10 pop radio smashes in 30s for females is harder but doable if the music is right :flower:

The fact that Gaga also peaked at #11 with SL just like NRO on Pop radio is such a mess :neyde:

Why?!!? Why couldn't we have another Top 10, we were so close, so close!! They had to payola until the top 10.
