Stupid love isn’t a flop tho, Not a typical Gaga smash top 5, but it’s like a do what you want or million reasons level of success.

SL isn't a flop, but it's definitely not on THAT level of success :billie:

MR bombed hard virtually every other country sans US & even then had it not been for the Superbowl and radio payola afterwards, it’d be stuck at its #52 peak:billie:

SL had payola too and we all know what its chart run would look like now without radio support :billie:

Here we go with downgrading Gaga’s hits to make SL look better

MR grew in hindsight and that a lot more than we could've ever hoped back in 2017. I'm very happy it is where it is but let's not try to deminish our suffering when MR was crashing in and out of the Hot 100.

yea a first week radio deal that every lead single gets, after that it actually grew on radio until callouts, SL never got MR’s level of radio payola (that random and sudden KIIS PR out of nowhere, immediately followed by other stations as well)

mess :fail:

Saying SL is at the same level of DWUW's success is wrong :fail:

I already posted the receipts about DWUW being a way bigger WW hit than SL and I don't have the time to do it again :fail:

Yes and no.

The initial response was because the label did a good job.

The continuing support comes from a smash song, one that is added to the people’s own playlist after the editorial support.

We have two examples of this treatment one gone right (don’t start now, which increased constantly) and another one wrong because the people said NO and didn’t add the song to their library (stupid love).

There’s no difference between the treatment of these two songs. Obviously one was liked by the GP and the other wasn’t.

Yeah but what about it honestly... It still managed to sell 1M pure even if it was tanking on the Hot 100 and it’s a staple and a classic in Gaga’s discography for now. Nobody really cast a shadow on its success before SL happened.

I was reading the initial reaction from fans on reddit and they all thought it was either:

- a demo with no chorus yet

- a song she released herself that didn't make the album to buzz the era

-a decoy

or all of the above

Meaning no one was saying 'she HAS to release his now' unlike with FW and ROM. The fan reaction was that it was just the basis of something a lot deeper, and that to me shows why its performed the way it did.

At least its a good sign anyway because fans are all over FW and ROM. Better times could be ahead
