Do you mean that pre-recording would be bad because cause it allows artists an opportunity to edit their sound? Not at all. It's "One World Together at Home", it will be incredibly special if you have all these millions of people together with the artists at the same time. This should not be about waiting for a youtube video to be released, this is a music festival where the whole world will get together at the same time and artists can sing and play live and be there with them. Pre-recording ends up destroying that feeling of fellowship and closeness with the artists playing. Edit: I just realised you want a playback concert so is that the "magic" you are into when you see someone live? Who cares if the sound is not studio-like, it has nothing to do with that. I don't want them to edit the vocals to hell though. That DOES take the magic away. When I said edit in I mean more like placing it in a certain part of the show, not manipulating the performance itself. There are a lot of pros to pre-recording as well. Imagine how messed up the show could get if one artist's wifi wasn't working or lag became a thing. The producers would have a hard time deciding how to handle the situation and if they should come back to the artist later or what. And the timing for all other artists is off then as well. Agreed 100%.

nest 1,051
It's already been confirmed that it's pre-recorded but it seems the performances won't be edited since the Global Citizen CEO said it was "live" (as in the recordings were live and not edited or studio versions). People's connections fail all the time, you can't have that risk when broadcasting an event of this scale. It's basic logistics for them to do that. You do know that it wouldn’t be possible to do that and that it would be extremely messy? Like how do you expect 100 people to call in with video call? The quality would be ****, the connection would probably be a mess and a whole experience would feel unprofessional..

Maybe it's going to be another suprise announcement. One can only hope. I can't think of a good reason why she shouldn't be able to perform. Maybe they really are worried that she's going to sound like sh!t, like when she did Eurovision.
