King of Thailand broke travel ban laws in Germany

The King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun (also known as Rama, X)  was exposed by an investigative report of German newspaper TAZ that chronicled his jetsetting lifestyle between his home country Thailand and his current residence near Munich, Germany. According to these reports, the King flew to first Switzerland, and then his home country for festivities surrounding a public holiday. This broke the new German and European travel laws, that prohibit international travel.  Two days later, the King was flown back to his residence, a currently empty Hotel he rented out for several months, which again broke German and European laws.

Journalists who tried to photograph his arrival in Switzerland were detained by police, journalists waiting in front of his residence in Germany were also detained for "trespassing", online commentors in Thailand were put into jail for criticizing his behavior. The king is known in both Thailand and Germany for his rather eccentric lifestyle, in 2016 Paparazzi photographed the 67-year-old monarch walking through Munich in a stained crop top that showed off his beer belly and his tattooed body.

I think every country can make exceptions, especially for foreign officials. The  regulations in general dont apply to them.

Do you know that speaking ill of Thailand King will get you imprisoned up to 15 years even if you are not Thai nationals? Y’all in this thread better get ready to never visit Thailand in your life or you will be captured as soon as you landed there

This is the part that confuses me. How did journalists in Switzerland and Germany get detained for essentially doing their job?

He has a net worth of $60,000,000,000 and spends a lot of money in both Germany and Switzerland. The VAT tax he pays on a daily grocery shop is more than the average German gives the government through an entire lifetime of income taxes. Reporters exposing his shenaningans is a potential financial threat to both countries.
