Judas was such a good song. It had all the makings of a hit - like it very much was Bad Romance 2.0. I feel like most people didn't like it because of the religious imagery / references, when there was a lot more under the surface to explore. I will always say Judas is incredibly underrated. I think it was made too close to BR to be seen as distinctively different, that was the problem. It felt a little like a lesser version (I say this even though I love the song). I think the label needed to steer clear of trying to replicate BR. TEOG made more sense after BTW. Then I think MTN then wherever else she wanted to go with singles. Patrick Garcia 312
I thought it was commom knowledge that she originally planned: 1. Marry The Night 2. Born This Way 3. Scheiße 4. The Edge of Glory Judas and You and I were never supposed to be singles. But we all know how things went and before the release of Marry The Night as the 5th single she was planning to release Heavy Metal Lover as the 6th single, cause the song was acclaimed by some critics and by the fanbase, but MTN flopped hard and it wasn't possible anymore. At least that is what I've always had as a concrete information, I remember people discussing it here in 2012/2013 because Gaga said the originally planned singles run in an interview. Not sure if the HML information is true or just a rumor of that era tho.

At the time I didn't like they way they pushed Judas as to me (personal opinion, please don't come for me) it felt forced and constructed. The message was "she's kooky & controversial" - rather than what I was into which is a talented musician with an interesting perspective. The music stood by itself without the crazy-Ga branding and actually I think it created the bubble which resulted in the GP being bored of the antics. Agree 100 percent! Exactly what I thought! The This too. It didn't sit well with me either. Her team wanted controversy just for the sake of controversy! And they also wanted an easy hit since it's similar to her other hits and the image is 'crazy-ga'. They should've taken a risk with either MTN or TEOG as a 2nd single. That would've shown artistic growth. Another part of me believes that Judas was released just to please the fans and even the GP since many were complaining about the 'new sound' on BTW. Yxcvbnm 839
What kind of underperformance? Judas was a top10 hit. Everyone, everyone was talking about Judas and Gaga. Checking the mv was a must. I remember even my grandma knew that she released something around Easter, cause she saw it in the news. She released a good song with an amazing music Video. She used to make so magical mvs. It was art. Creativity. And a professional team behind it of course. Now, she dropped Stupid Love. Made by her "talented" yesmen. Biggest disappointment. Justice for Judas
