But BTW wasn't as generic and crowd pleasing as those albums. She was on top of the world at that time so she might have thought it would've been possible even with pop music as odd as BTW.

Marry the Night was originally supposed to be the lead, then third single.

Scheisse was competing with Judas for single status, probably reconsidered later.

Heavy Metal Lover was supposed to be the sixth single.

Then singles was the major plan that was in the running, but even if things did not go even remotely close to as wrong as they did, I am still not sure if even then this would have been feasible.

It was supposed to be:

BTW - Judas - TEOG (promo) - Yoü & I - MTN - Scheiße. I believe that was what Gags had in mind.

Hair was only released because TEOG outperformed “just a promo single”, and Scheiße was not released cuz.. well MTN didn’t chart. But she was insistent on having visuals for Scheiße so she did the Fame commercial

Yes! Born This Way just didn't have many radio friendly or easy to digest pop music. I think the only single worthy songs judging from the time were:

- BTW

- TEOG

- MTN 

- Judas

- Hair 

These all were dance pop that could appeal to many crowds and had huge choruses that were very popular then.

This is what I believe! She was always passionate about MTN and it was one of the most hyped songs pre-album release! I do believe it was supposed to be the 3rd single but because of the Judas/TEOG mess it didn't happen. And I believe the label wanted Yoü And I as a single just to compete with Adele and because releasing TEOG and MTN back to back would be 'samey'.

Just like Alejandro/Telephone, Do What U Want/Venus, Million Reasons/A-YO, Shallow/INLA. 

They know exactly why they release/tease two songs everytime

Blasphemy! I love Hair but compared to TEOG? TEOG rivals it 100 times. It would've been a bit corny if she released it as a single. TEOG sounds more mature and interesting.

It’s interesting reading it in this context. I feel like too many opinions are imposed with her single releases. I think MTN would have been a great lead.

This is very true. She did sing hair on quite a few shows though (obv it was a promo single too). Her version of it on the Paul O’Grady show made me appreciate the song much more.

Yoü and I definitely was released as a trend hopper. However, Lady Gaga definitely had passion for the song, so she most likely at some point wanted it as a single too.
