Diddy cuts off Lizzo twerking on IG Live, Fans accuse him of fat shaming

Diddy is being accused by fans of fat-shaming after cutting off Lizzo after she twerked during his Instagram Live fundraiser for healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Sunday (April 12), Diddy stopped the singer as she danced during his dance-a-thon to raise money for coronavirus relief through Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization improving the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! It's Easter Sunday, let's play something a little more family-friendly," Diddy said shortly after Lizzo began dancing to Moneybagg Yo's "1 2 3" featuring Blac Youngsta, the profanity-laced song playing in the background during their IG Live moment.

Lizzo responded to Diddy's request and stopped, seemingly embarrassed yet understanding. She then asked that they choose a "fun" song, suggesting Diddy and his sons play her record "Juice."

Social media users apparently took issue with Diddy telling Lizzo to stop and claimed that he was fat shaming after model Draya Michele was also seen twerking to Juvenile's "Back That Azz Up" without interruption on the mogul's IG Live dance-a-thon.

"When Lizzo was twerking it's not 'family-friendly' but when a skinny girl does it, it's all fun & games," one person wrote on Twitter.

Another Twitter user said, "P Diddy ain’t ****. When Lizzo started twerking he brought that to an end with the quickness but had nothing to say to Draya when she was shaking bum."

Diddy clarified on his Instagram Story that he only asked Lizzo to stop because of the excessive cursing in the song she was dancing to, noting it had nothing to do with her twerking.

"There's one thing that I want to make clear," he said on his Instagram story. "My queen, my sister Lizzo, when I stopped the music it was ’cause it had a lot of curses in there not ’cause she was twerking. She's one of the best twerkers in the world, OK? Let's keep that clear. It wasn't about twerking. You're allowed to twerk on Easter. There was a lot of cursing in the record. And I don't need child services knocking on my door right now, you understand? So that's why I stopped the record. But Lizzo, we love you and everybody stop looking for the negative. Look at the positive!"

Lizzo later reposted the video to her Instagram story with the emojis "😩🙏," making it clear that she understood where he was coming from and that she was not upset.

I think cuz his kids were there he didn't wanna see them watching a woman slowly girate on camera...parents are more sensitive when their children are around...if it was just him maybe wouldn't have reacted the way he did and would've just said "HAHA you crazy Lizzo!"

He did the right thing. BUT it was sort of telling that when another celeb that was skinny was twerking he got turned on and told her she was the highlight of the show. She was also dancing in front of his kids just like Lizzo. In my opinion he should have told both to not dance like that in a family setting not just Lizzo. Shows that there perhaps were some fat shaming undertones tbh

its so disgusting that because of her body type everything seems to be forgiven. its not fat shaming, its what you have to do if you wanna keep something family friendly lol, this thing is getting tired fast. you can see that he popped up right when the curses happened.

on a general note its not illegal to dislike her or criticize something she's done just because of some extra weight, when something is wrong, its wrong.

I feel bad for her. That was painful to watch:messga: I might consider listening to her music now because she never interested me.

I mean it's pretty clear from the livestream that the issue was with the song, so let's move on... :madge:
