Hey Boy

Honest question. Which one of them is better? Many people say Taylor is the master of songwriting, because of her storytelling lyrics and complex metaphores. Many of Gaga's songs also has strong and creative songwriting. She's a writer or co-writer of every song of her. Also she won an Oscar :ally: So my question is, who, in your opinion, has better skills?

Gracious Gaga

Father John Misty says hi

but even w something like this gaga can take a song and make it something totally different!

and I love her early 2007 demos w/ Rob Fusari.  Taylor's lyrics & music a very cute and she makes great songs too- I guess I prefer the content Gaga sings about better.

They're both different and both great, in life sometimes you can't say one thing is better than another and I'd dare to say that this is the case here.

EDIT: What I DO wanna see in the future though, is an album by Gaga solely written by her, just like Taylor already has done.

That's why there is a third option in the poll :kara:

Red Velvet

I would say both are the same level.

I mean Taylor's kinda got lower when ME! was released but the songwriting from the ****ing top 4 albums (Red, Speak Now, 1989 and reputation) were still one of the best.

The bridge in All Too Well, the bridge in I Know Places, the entireity of Clean, Enchanted's second verse, the Come Back... Be Here bridge ugh.

Gaga's had some pretty cringe moments too (love it when you call me legs), but her songwriting really shines through in also her top 3 albums (TFM, BTW and ARTPOP).

The bridge of ARTPOP, the bridge in The Queen, the entireity of You and I, the bridge of Dance In the Dark, ugh even the whole of Speechless...

I'd say Taylor is better in story telling writing while Gaga is better in poetic or metaphorical usage.

I'm like some kind of supernova

Gaga's the better artist, and her music is definitely more interesting, but Taylor's lyrics are superior in my opinion.

Gaga excels at hooks, vocals, compositions, etc. but Taylor tells the better story and employs a better use of words (with the exception of some of her singles)

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

LG is my fav of course but objectively speaking it's Taylor.

Lyrics: Taylor >> LG

Melody: LG > Taylor

Overall: Taylor > LG

Smother Em Eh

Taylor is a great songwriter but I couldn’t imagine her writing something as poetically stunning as the verses in Dope.

So Gaga for me

Candy Gaga

I stan both and think both are amazing songwriters but they're different and that's what make them subjective like Taylor never goes as dark as some Gaga themes and that's why I prefer Gaga

I think Taylor is probably a better pop hit songwriter but Gaga can be a more serious one if that makes sense.

Honestly I have no idea how to answer because they’re both so different. Taylor is a brilliant songwriter, she has so many incredible lyrics, she always paints a picture and tells a story, she’s one of the best songwriters out there but so is Gaga. Gaga knows how to write really creative artistic songs and lyrics that really pack a punch.
