Britney is the only pop music legend that doesn't need to have a good voice to have success

There are some songs where she belts and show her original voice

1. Cher - 70's

2. Madonna - 80's

3. Gaga - late 2000s

4. The Beatles - 60's

5. MJ - 80's

6. Freddie - 70's

7. Taylor - 2010s

Honorable mentions: Bowie, Prince

Why Taylor though? I understand she has found a lot of success, but she gets lost in the pool of music. I don't think she's had much cultural impact. None of her music has defined a decade or sound.

Madonna should be in the top 2, imo.  Cher should be on the list.

Overall a solid list with good justifications for each. I think instead of The Beatles, you should add Cher and Madonna should definitely be number two. I think Gaga deserves her spot on the list because, frankly, the last decade of music wouldn't be what it is without her. I'm still cautious to say she's the greatest of all time because it's only been 12 years. Yet I think she's accomplished so much in a short time.

Mte.

Haha, so why you listen her music? ;)

I like some of her songs and yet I know that she's not talented at all in music

She wrote her best song though!

she can sing she can dance she's the most famous pop star worldwide, Madonna's voice isnt groundbreaking either and yet I think she's a great singer with amazing timeless songs. singing isnt always about hitting the right notes like mariah carey. of course there's a LIMIT, I wouldnt say selena gomez is a singer

Hello the zouzou

I just realized I don't know one single song by Cher

I know the title "Believe" but I don't know what it sounds like

I didn’t hear her singing in a decent way except for that video of her childhood

She used to be able to sing, but not anymore. She used to be the most famous popstar of all, but that faded after like 2010. While she has hits, she doesn't have the talent or versatility in my opinion to be considered one of the greatest pop stars of all time.

Madonna is different in the way that she stood for something bigger than music, so its okay that she has a mediocre voice. Her image, her politics, her views, her stance on subjects were so much larger than her music. Thats why she's one of the greatest ever, because Madonna is so much more than music. I don't like her as a person, but I respect why she is considered the greatest.

But Gaga will top Madonna every day of the week because she is the full package AND so much larger than music at the same time. She will go down in history as the greatest female popstar/musician ever

End Racism Now

I mean, if we define the 'greatest' pop star by some of the following qualities:

- Memorable, defining hits.

- Iconic, cultural moments (be it fashion, performances, controversy)

- Performance ability (dance, stage presence)

- Vocal ability

- Musical ability (playing an instrument / a true understanding of music)

- Writing ability (the ability to write lyrics and music)

- Versatility (the ability to create varied different eras in terms of looks, genre and sound)

- The stats to back it up (groundbreaking success)

- Get the Party Stared/So What/Sober/Who Knew/Just Give Me A Reason/Lady Marmalade/What About Us

- 2010 Grammy's Performance/2017 VMA Medley

- Pollstar Award for Best Pop Tour of 2019/Great dancer/Excellent outfits/Incorporates aerial routines/Puts on a complete SHOW

- Has never lip-synced/One of her shows was described by Adele as a defining moment of her life/Excellent range

- No instruments

- 68 songwriting credits (via Wikipedia)/Has written for Cher and Celine Dion/Most of her hits have been written or co-written by herself

- Each album is a distinct era/Incredible versatility with fashion/Started as R&B, now main Pop Girl/Sings country

- 33 major awards won (5 BBMAs, 7 VMAs, 3 Grammys)/Star on Walk of Fame/40 Million albums sold worldwide

Show P!nk some love!

Honey, Britney cannot sing. I love her as a performer, she's definitely worthy of praise in that category, but as a singer? It would take years to count the number of times she's lip-synced

Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Prince are the only realistic ones. They all revolutionized pop music. Anyone else is exaggeration.

I could totally see Gaga being added to this list in the next 15 years though.
