The governor of cross river state (nig)  has ordered all civil servants to go back to work following his no mask no movement  rule enforced a week ago

This means that you cant leave your house unless you have a nose mask on

Anyway the question here is, do you think this is a good idea?

No I don't. We are nowhere near the peak of this virus yet here and I think realistically we should wait until like June or July before we can even consider going back to work

I doubt it. The virus won't even hit its peak until later this month to very early in May, so it's best to just keep it safe right now

They say they have 0 case of coronavirus so far, so I guess it's safe for them, if they don't let anyone enter the city risking to contaminate people

And the sooner we realize this the better. Nobody should be doing anything non-essential (groceries or medicine) until June at the earliest!

Depends... Austria, for example, has had a steady decrease of new infections in the last weeks and our curve is relatively flat at the moment. So they are gradually reopening the country starting on Tuesday.

I think, there should be mandatory testing for every citizen of a country. I know this is incredibly difficult to realise, but if every person of a nation was tested, only those who test positive would need to stay in quarantine and the rest of the population could go on to live their "normal" lives again.

Then I guess it's fine, 0 case + still having precautions like a mask and prohibiting mass groups sounds pretty safe

The tests are made by humans. Even fast tests involve a lot of precautions. I dont think that the time need it to test someone can be lower than 30 minutes. Not to mention that the tests need to be manufactured, so I dont think it's possible even 6 months from now something like that, even in top countries.

All the countries try to find a way to open the economy. We will see what it is the correct approach in the next weeks.

But if this country has zero cases, the measures make little sense.

And what happens if they allow people to go back to work and someone comes into the state with Covid 19 and then suddenly the whole state is effected? You are better waiting for the fully country (the US in this case) to show at least 75% recovered before you can think about lifting restrictions

Yes you have a point  but in this case this particular state has 0 cases for now and all entrances have been  blocked . And also he only specified  civil servants. Apart from them only necessary  services  are open .

I do agree tho, the number  of cases in the entire country are on a steady increase.  There are about 200 confirmed cases as of today in the counrty, over 30 have been discharged .7 deaths only
