“Singles released after albums can’t chart well without Remixes”

Is this a goodbye to 5-7 singles/videos per era?:noparty:

I feel like people forget that singles are meant to sell the album. After an album is released, you can listen to the song you like as much as you want. Singles really only matter in Stan culture and fans that want to hear something on the radio or want music videos.

If you didn't have the album, you didn't have the song.

Think of the single as an advertisement for the album. It's supposed to be a promoted track that gets people interested in actually purchasing the album it's on. However, since streaming is a thing and easily accessible to everyone, singles post-album release almost seem useless. Yeah, radios can still pick it up, but even then that platform is slowly dying too.

I've realized that super successful albums usually have singles released afterwards flop (ie: Lover) and that moderate successes or "flops" have the single potential after album release - see Camila Cabello with My Oh My from Romance for instance. That's the last single from the album, released about a month after the album, and is doing well on the Hot 100 rn (currently number 15, expected to go to number 12 next week).

Yeah this has been pretty noticeable to me sadly, and honestly what had me worry about Chromatica’s date being only a month apart from SL originally.

I hope Gaga uses the delay to give another single or two time to breathe. I want her first era with two top 5s since Born This Way!
