ARTPOPSYCHOLOGY 6,272 Posted April 6, 2020 Share Posted April 6, 2020 I would like to dismiss this narrative of “now everyone should be banned or unstan for being upset about the delay.” First of all, most of y’all who complained or were upset are the ones saying that now and are singing a very different tune from a few weeks ago. Second of all, idk why any of us are shocked at this announcement. This was confirmed by multiple sources for over a week and it was clear she was organizing something with COVID. But now all of the sudden the “f*** Gaga” turns into “omg philanthropic queen nobel peace prize yasssss.” This is a catastrophic event and I’m genuinely excited for 4/18. It’s a huge moment in her career and I was getting emotional watching it. But that doesn’t mean none of us aren’t allowed to still be sad we would’ve gotten an album we’ve been waiting for for almost 4 years. There’s an argument to be made that she could’ve easily released an album with themes related to dancing through the pain on time and promoted at a later date. We’ve heard it several times since the delay was announced. Several other artists have either released songs or albums and none of them got flack for releasing during this time. I’m more than content that this month she’ll probably be silent on the album and promote this event and I’m proud of her and proud to be a fan. But I’m sick of the little voices of morality and conscience of GGD belittling fans still upset about the delay. Not everyone was calling her names and disrespecting her when the delay was announced. Nor were they all sitting there and calling her names or malicious, and those fans continued to get grouped with the rest of us. They/we were just genuinely upset the one thing to look forward to during these dark times was the album. And while the virtual event is something to look forward to, it doesn’t make me any less sad about not getting the album. That doesn’t make me “ungrateful” or whatever other words some of the more toxic users want to call people on here. People can still be sad while simultaneously being proud of Gaga for this event she is planning. I couldn’t help but notice a lot of “everyone who said blah blah should x” and it’s not right. Same happened when Shallow was released. 90% of people on here HATED it and how ''messy'' the song's structure is (not to mention audience sounds). Now it's apparently her best song. I'm also a bit disappointed by the delay -- like anyone would be if they were looking forward to something important. But I can see how valid the postponement is. And it's awesome that she is shifting her focus to relief and support. Just gotta discipline our disappointment, I think. Instead of bashing her and her team. I understand this totally. You’re not wrong. And I’m not like still whining and complaining. I guess my point is there shouldn’t be a correlation between Gaga doing this so her fans MUST shut up and be happy with it. No. The truth is that despite all of the chaos and the undoubted stress she’s under to replan the era AND plan this event (which, to clarify, I respect her for) she was silent and kept us in the dark 17 days before the delay announcement. There are monsters out of jobs right now who could use the $ for refunds for tour tickets, merch they didn’t get, etc. There’s a lot of moving parts and some users on here are too simple minded to see that argument and just admonish everyone as if they’re Gaga’s best friends and know her personally while also they were the ones once talking sh*t. This is another pretty ignorant take honestly. No need to take your time commenting on the thread if you can’t contribute something. Her music has saved countless of lives and now more than ever people were counting it.
