So I was bored and started watching ARTPOP's reactions.

I noticed a lot of people don't understand Venus's "when you touch me I die just a little inside", so I thought I would explain it, in case some of us don't know yet.

In Frence, a popular expression for orgasm is "la petite mort" which literally mean "little deaths". So what she basically said was he has that good dic energy  :huntyga:

Well, to me it doesn't necessarily relate to an orgasm, it's more that she's so in love or infatuated with this person that she gets butterflies in her stomach or feels faint every time they touch; it's a metaphor for how strongly she feels for them (cuz they're out of this world)

Also, "when you touch me" seems to be quite a short action, so if she is talking about sex, then she'd be constantly dying inside during the whole act... So I think if she were talking about sex, she'd be using present continuous instead of present perfect

Just realised she does talk about sex during the verses... I still think the chorus is more of a general reflection on love, the entire song isn't meant to be shallow and just about sex, otherwise I doubt she'd use the mythological imagery

Maleficent

that’s not how i interpret it, solely because of the line after; “i wonder if this could be love”.

to be “i die a little inside” signifies her pain in the hesitation of a true deeper connection beyond just the physical, which she vocalizes in the line “i wonder if this could be love”. the physical connection is there, her partner is “touch[ing] [her]”, but there is pain in her uncertainty on how to label the physical connection, and if it is love or something fleeting.

Unpopular OP: this part of the song was wasted on this particular song, and the lines “when you touch me i die/just a little inside/i wonder if this could be love” deserved to be part of a much more coherent song. they are my all time favourite Gaga lyrics.
