Yes she would have delayed. I know so many people have a bad perception of Gaga in here and 100% view her as a greedy businesswoman, but I do genuinely believe she wants to focus on the problem we’re facing atm and help in whichever way she can.

No..? None of the reasons she delayed seem to have anything to do with SL being a hit. Maybe if the era had started like 2 months earlier and it had time to be promoted and grow, and the ari single was released... then maybe yes. But y'all have to understand Gaga can't just drop an album without having a proper era, without the appearances and the promo spots

chaeri pls

Who said stupid love wasn’t a hit-

A cute moderate hit that did what it could given everything that’s happened.

It's not a hit, but not a flop either. It did good first week and then it plummeted on streaming mainly, it had a good debut because people were interested to see what Gaga had to offer but most clearly didn't come back to stream.

Sadly Gaga is not the type of artist who could just drop a song and stay in home not promoting it and it'll become a hit, she has to promote and I think some promo during it's first two weeks could have really helped.

Considering she had a Coachella set and more stuff on her sleeve, I’d say it would be delayed anyway. SL was not that big of a factor.

Hmm it's a good question

If SL had been a mega hit, a #1 all over the world with 7 rings streaming, 100% I feel they wouldn't have delayed, because it wouldn't of mattered about the physicals or promo or anything else, because a hit of that calibre means a hit for a long time and then therfore an interest in the album = great sales. It's the best promo someone can get, and saves Interscope money.

If SL had been anything else, even like a DWUW sized hit, they'd have still delayed. It's too big of a mountain for her to overcome, this situation at present AND an uninterested GP.

I think the fact that it is kind of is asleep everywhere but radio threw her team off, and then taking away promo opportunities and the physicals is just let down after let down. Much better it was delayed and replanned.

Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight

Yes. There's a lot of restrictions...promo concerts etc. Even if she got that number 1, Chromatica will not sell well. FN is a great example.

Moderate hit is still too strong to describe SL. It had a hot shot debut. That’s about it.

Yeah but I wouldn’t call it a flop either. I do agree it wasn’t a hit I just couldn’t find another word to describe it other than moderate hit. Unfortunately Gaga still relies on promo. At least we know she was going to perform at the very least and do promotion, so it’s safe to say it would have done at least slightly better.

It slowly but surely became a huge hit, even went #1

Joanne wasn’t postponed bc of Perfect Illusion and that did nowhere near as well as Stupid Love so yes it’d have been delayed regardless :crossed:

She would have needed a lot less traditional promo for Chromatica if Stupid Love had been a proper hit. SL doing bad definitely supported their decision.
