I agree with u on healthcare and environment. Biden doesn't do much in those regards

Cancelling student debt is something I have mixed opinions about. I only support the idea of they are able to reform the system to be much more affordable (or even free if they manage)...

Because if u cancel student debt but u don't fix the root cause (high tuitions), the next generation will just get in debt again and then:

#1 u haven't solved the problem

#2 u might have to forgive debt again

#3 if ppl see debt forgiveness happened once, they may expect it could happen again and not put as much of an effort to avoid student debt to begin with and next generation rack up even more debt than this one

So as much as it might boost economy now, in the long term if ur gonna cancel student debt, I think it has to be a package deal with reforms to actually make post secondary less expensive

And I don't buy to the idea that good intentions automatically equal good results. Something can sound great for the average person but still backfire for everyone if it strains the business world too much.

There's a certain threshold in left wing policies and attempts at redistribution that I believe once crossed stops having a bet-benefit for everyone and starts to do more harm than good even if that's not the intent

I don't pretend to know exactly where they threshold is. And that line may also vary depending on circumstances and how well they are carried out...

But I do believe there's a good chance some of Bernie's ideas may cross that line or threshold especially when it comes to the degree he wants to go to on taxes on big business

Well, Bernie also calls for free tuition :flutter: He thinks 13-16 is as essential as K-12, and I agree. I think Biden adopted the Warren position of making it free for families who earn under $125k a year, but Bernie was against that for some reason. I think it was good but I didn’t care bc I don’t feel as bad as I do for rich established families as I do for fresh immigrant families serving their first family member to join college.

I don’t know Joe Biden’s platform is gonna work. His bankruptcy bill in the mid 2000s,  made it impossible for students to file for bankruptcy bc of student loans. So is it just one half of Gen Z/Millennials stuck with debt all bc they were born at the wrong time, while other Gen Z and beyond are just blessed w free college bc??

That’s gonna be extremely controversial.

This pivot was recent too. You can tell his campaign is flailing around bc they realize the deadly risk of his lack of youth support.

I don’t know about the economics issue tbf, but I trust Bernie and progressives have an idea about that. We already know The Green New Deal would actually create a whole new, multi billion dollar industry, so Bernie has big plans for the economy.

I think Bernie's made sense tho. A cut off like that could be problematic

Someone from a family that makes $124K gets to have free tuition but then $125K not can make it messy. Not to mention incomes can vary from year to year so then do u get free tuition one year but not the next?

Costs of living and tuition expenses can also vary by State and city. And what if a kid has shitty parents that don't wanna contribute to his or her education despite having the money? Now the kid has to be left out of the benefits?

So I actually applaud Bernie there I think it would be too messy to try to put a cut off. Besides, families that make over 125K is a minority, it wouldn't make a massive difference in the cost of education to have the cut off so it may not be worth the mess

As for progressives understanding the economy... Honestly everyone in their respective places has their theories and logic (right, centrists and leftists alike). Some may even make sense. But my faith that they won't go too far because of an idealistic vision is not so strong

I even support green energy btw but not for economic reasons but just purely environmental. If it wasn't for the envinment, I wouldn't support it for economic reasons... The supposed jobs it creates and industry missed some important key points in productivity and economic return for investment

I'm not very convinced the big green plan is truly economically positive. There may be a short term boost during construction and transition phase (but that could of been accomplished too by fixing old infrastructure that needs investment badly just the same)... Although as I said, I support it regardless purely to help the environment so it's not a plan I'll criticize

She already endorsed Hillary, so it couldnt possibly get worse. I liked the spin she put onto it when she gave that speech, though.

The whole thing is going to be a damn mess. It’s cute that she’s a believer in humanity, but for once I wish she would just sit down and, to be frank, shut up. She’s not Gandhi. She’s starting to become Bono (I.e. insufferable celebrity “philanthropist”). She thinks she has the answer for literally every problem in life from politics, to mental health, physical health, gay rights, PANDEMICS. Chill out and release your album - that would help more people get through this than your jabbering on about what you think we can and can’t do during this time.

He has a rape allegation? Didn't hear of it. When was this?

Tara Reade. This story came out a few days ago. She says he penetrated her with his fingers which is at least sexual assault (not just harassment) and any act of penetration is usually considered rape.

Is she also the same one that mentioned the neck touching or was that someone else?

Yes, she's one of the people who said he touched their necks last year.

She says she'd been seeking legal help including from the nonprofit Times Up to represent her since last year but she was unable to (Times Up said they dont want a political case) and so she went on a podcast and revealed the allegations.

Jennie Kim

Remember how Gaga was on Stephen Colbert just two years ago defending Dr. Ford from being accused of lying about the sexual assault allegations?

If she goes on TV tonight endorsing Biden, she'll be revealing herself as one huge hypocrite just like the rest of Hollywood.

I like to believe she's better than that.

By the way, she's going to get dragged so hard for this that the Chromatica delay meltdowns on here will become insignificant compared to the backlash she'll receive from both public and media.

Well she’s hardly going to endorse Sanders on the same broadcast that Biden is on!  Hopefully she only mentions the virus and not politics.
