And I think it diverted the attention of the government because everything every day was all about impeachment,” McConnell said in an interview on “The Hugh Hewitt Show.” https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/490335-mcconnell-impeachment-distracted-government-from-coronavirus-threat Did Trump even acknowledge the virus as real any sooner than a month after the trial ended (Feb 5th)? Up until this week he dismissed it to the point that he wanted to reopen shops by Easter. Even if they "were distracted", I believe the person who presides over the entire country should be able to multi-task. Especially considering one is a Political/Legal issue and the other is a Scientific/Health issue and he SHOULD have separate teams to handle these things.Thoughts? Economy 52,844 Posted March 31, 2020 Share Posted March 31, 2020 This argument would be believable if Trump and his administration acknowledged the threat then and wanted to put in measures to deal with it and were too busy to do so But given Trump took forever just to acknowledge the threat (and even now often downplays it) this makes no sense In fact few Countries saw it as a big threat during this time because it wasn't clear what was gonna happen. Piss poor attempt to place blame on anyone other than Trump and members of his administration. They butchered the handling of this pandemic and are looking to once again distract everyone by gaslighting—typical of these morons. At the end of the day, Trump still downplayed the entire outbreak and this tactic is just a means to try and get people to praise his team for the awful job they’re doing. Threats come up all the time (H1N1, Sars, Ebola etc) more often than not they don't turn out to be global pandemics and get contained I certainly don't think going into full lockdowns everytime a threat comes up is the answer. Society and economy couldn't function if u instantly resorted to that everytime. U kinda have to assess risks as they come and as they evolve It's easy to look back and say we should of acted earlier knowing the outcome but there was no way to know for sure what would happen. The degree of how contagious Covid-19 is and how fast it spreads caught us off guard So my point wasn't so much to criticize lack of action in January. I'm just saying hardly anyone considered it a very serious threat then or was doing anything so to use the argument that u didn't respond because of impeachment is beyond laughable and disgusting. Your government should be a united front during this global crisis. No one is taking accountability for anything while people are legitimately losing everything.
