So you will drag them out into the unsafe environment and be responsible if they get the disease and die?

WOW indeed

If you don't have the money, that's your problem. If everyone use the pandemic excuse to stop paying the rent, the landlords would be in an tough spot.

Where is the problem? Of course, if you are on a rent, you have to pay  Just because there is a pandemic, it doesn't mean that now everything is free...

I have an experience on both sides: I'm on a rent, and I will pay next month regularly as always. Meanwhile, I'd expect the tenants that are renting my mother's house to do the same, otherwise I'll drag their ass out of that damn house ;) since my mom depends on that rent to pay her bills.

Funny cause those renters depended on that job they just lost to pay your mom 😐 If her tenants are blessed to still have jobs , then collect. Otherwise, why act this way? You'd sleep better at night knowing you STILL have 0 rent AND threw people into street during a  lockdown from a fatal contagious disease????

people are losing their jobs and dying, melissa. you shouldn't be able to evict people out of their homes.

Spyro

I feel as though everyone has valid opinions, but the anger is targeted at the wrong person.  Whether or not a landlord evicts you, chances are the bank owns the property and they'll have zero issues kicking you out.  Y'all need to call your congressman and DEMAND a mortgage freeze.

EVERYONE IS IN A TOUGH SPOT!

Who do you think is gonna move in and pay your mom sis? NO ONE

Who is coming to collect debts in a pandemic sis? NO ONE

This will NOT be over in a month or two.

That's why government s are demanding banks and landlords to quit this mess.

lol, some people shouldn't be business person for a reason.

So they don't pay because they just lost their job/in quarantine, she kicks them out, fine.. but that means that it's pretty much unlikely to find new tenants during this pandemic and if the city is on lockdown, she's pretty much screwed and this apartment will stay empty for months and she's still gonna need to pay the bills on it.. so what's the point? at least the bills are still on their name and not her problem.. it's better to find an arrangement for after the crisis will end than just kick people to the street because you think that you have the power, but you pretty much don't have, you're going into a bigger mess if you leave the apartment empty.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Interesting! :) Thanks! Tomorrow I'll go to the supermarket I will take all the food I want without paying. If they try to stop me, I will say "hey, it's called basic human rights."

Exactly! This is why literally everyone, even if you can afford the rent, needs to not pay the rent. Put the landlords in the exact same position we're at.

no need, you could just tell them your mom's a landlord and keep acting like you're better than anybody else.

It’s just a disaster of a time we’re living in. The landlords are suffering just as much as the tenants. Many people are unemployed. I feel bad for both parties.

But also, I don’t think it would be a smart idea to not pay several months of rent. Wouldn’t you just have to pile up 3 months of rent and pay it all at once when this freeze is over? That sounds worse.
