The 16 per cent comes from Politico.

The 25 per cent of Sanders supporters who voted for someone else comes from FiveThirtyEight.

Seventy five per cent of Sanders supporters voted for Trump, third party candidates or wrote someone in. A vote for a third party candidate was a vote for Trump.

More Clinton supporters voted for McCain that Sanders supporters voted for Trump.

The numbers don’t lie.

For a progressive to vote for Trump is not a giant leap when you talk about economics. Trump 2016 was a fake (right wing) populist. Bernie 2020 is a real (left wing) populist. There is similarity, and yet again, I see people over emphasizing how important culture is over economics. As much as I’d love to see that not the be case, it’s just not reality.

If we can talk about equivalents, like I said in a previous comment:

Bernie 2016/20 = Obama 2008 (progressive candidate)

Biden 2020 = Hillary 2008/16 (moderate candidates)

I don’t know what you mean by progressives not voting for a progressive candidates, but many moderates just vote for whoever has a (D) beside their name. Populist progressives would never bc they realize parties can change platforms.

“Moderate” (neoliberals) haven’t won in over 30 years since the 90s w Bill Clinton. They aren’t safe.

What’s actually safe, is electing a progressive that brings in independents, and moderates who are just anti-republican and care about culture over policy, economics and voting records

Then Bernie should have won the primaries no? Both in '16 and now? Especially with this primary, with Biden winning every single county in MI, proving that most of '16 Bernie vote was just anti-Hillary vote?

And please give me other reason than "corporate media". That one is old and tired.

Yes, he should have, bc again his platform is more popular than Joe Biden’s extremist platform.

and no, I won’t. Reality doesnt care how tired of it you are of it. It’ll just persist. I’m not here to make you happy or buzzed, I’m here to say the truth.

Bernie’s campaign also didn’t re-adjust after the move that was ST eve and also had other messaging problems, but I don’t talk about that bc a) it’s obvious, and b) there shouldn’t be this bias against him in the first place-where he is questioned more harshly than Biden and other neolibs.

^ That’s the reflection Hillary’s campaign failed to do, and now her staffers are here to tank another campaign in a society that has ran to the left of them.

The progressives didn’t come out to vote for Bernie.

There are more moderate voters than progressive voters. Democrats have won in the last thirty years. It’s a big party, with a wide variety of voters.

Bernie can’t get his own people out to vote. He can’t get Independents and moderates. He can’t even get his progressive demo to come out to vote for him.

Biden is the one getting the upsurge in votes in states, getting the swing vote states and bringing in new voters.

You can make up labels for candidates all you want, but the fact is that voters aren’t seeing it the way you are. Perhaps if you lived here, and had lived here and voted here, you would understand this more.

We were discussing who VOTED FOR A REPUBLICAN. As in, they walked in to a polling location and selected Trump or McCain.

More Clinton voters chose McCain than Sanders voters chose Trump.

This is not accurate.

Youth turnout was up and Bernie did bring in new support from independents. It’s just that older conservative democrats came out and out-voted them.

Also, there may be more moderate voters, but as I said before: there are more progressives than moderates:

Most people agree with Bernie. However, the media has scared them into believing the lie that Bernie is too radical, impractical and unelectable. Dem voters want to win so they vote against their heart.

This is why Joe’s enthusiasm is at record lows. Nobody is excited enough to vote for him, and this is on the eve on what’s typically the high point: where the nom is about to be secured. Trump hasn’t even started his campaign yet, and once he’s through... well... I don’t see I doing well for him.

*Also Trump and Biden’s support is trending badly for Biden and better for Trump already, after his soulless platitudes and cringy compilations on CNN and MSNBC regarding the virus.

Finally, Neoliberal is not a term I made up. Someone else did. The fact you’ve never heard it doesn’t surprise me bc of all the opinions you hold. I get my info from American progressive and independent channels, and you get yours from American neoliberal/“moderate and objective” new channels. This has nothing to do with what patch of land I happen to live in.

If you watched The Hill’s: The Rising and The Young Turks, you’d see where I’m coming from. They actually said and explained why Trump had a chance to win, unlike everywhere else that said Hillary would win in a landslide. Idk how anyone can trust them after that: bc elections are never “flukes.”

Tbh the basis of this thread is so BS. **** party unity, this is about democracy. This should be only about ideas, and parties change platforms. Earn the votes without being complicit with the help of the media dishonestly smearing other candidates’ character and platform.

If Bernie’s Dems are leaving the Dem party, it’s purely bc the Dems platform wasn’t good enough.

I only came in here to remind proud Democrats what that party name actually means 💕

Trust, if Biden continues to fall apart, you will see a new candidate that has been successful politically . Rumors are suggesting Cuomo, but he already shut that down hardcore. Which could actually increase his odds because he seems honest and authentic and he’s not a “socialist”.

Nah, it’s because they were gonna leave no matter what.

They will vote against their own interests and rights. They will have themselves to blame.

Direct votes are not the same as third party votes.

The numbers don’t lie.

The same study that said 12% voted for Trump says 25% voted for McCain.

They’re in the same position.

No way am I watching TYT. That’s your problem with understanding reality.

There are more moderates than progressives.

The increase in 2018 was from moderates and those are the same voters that came out to give Biden the win.

A third party vote was not a vote for the Democratic Nominee. It was a throw away vote.

Third party votes gave us Trump and gave us Bush over Gore. We would be living in a different world right now if those third party voters hadn’t thrown their vote away. They are the reason we are so behind on Global Warming! Imagine what would have happened if we would have had Gore for eight years, instead of Bush.

Third party votes matter.

Girl no, the party had a chance to go back to it’s glorious American FDR democrat ways but the leaders stupidly squashed that. It was possible for Democratic Socialists to stay, neoliberals just pulled the wrong move yet again.

Idk what’s more anti-interest than voting for a candidate you don’t believe in, voting for candidates who don’t uplift their minority groups economically, and support Dems who suddenly add hours and weeks to the TimesUp clock when Joe Biden is the one to get accused.

The only blatant blaming will be from neoliberals who will blame “stupid voters” and not reflect on their platform failings. (no, Hillary didn’t lose bc of sexism) :madge:
