I haven't heard the Babylon leak which is why I based my opinion on SL, which neither has an experimental instrumental and out of the ordinary pop notes nor is it a rehash of what makes disco pop sound like disco pop

Babylon is the first haus labs commerical

well of course, you can't be one of the most successful and acclaimed artists of the generation and not be held to a higher standard... it's true for all artists.

It's really strange how fans insist that Gaga is the best, the most innovative etc, but when others expect the best results from her, then the crying starts.

you can this an experimental and out of the ordinary instrumental? the music I heard in the commercial is like 90% a sample of this song

That's because Gaga is the best and most complete artist we've had in a long time and at her peak she was THE standard and the only one who could deliver quality music + hits + visuals + good songwriting + vocals + dancing + versatility + instruments + theatricality + fashion + iconic moments + reinventions etc...

Gaga struggles a bit more because she straddles the line of commerciality and weirdness and doesn't rly fall on either side in my opinion.

Perhaps. But that should be commended for that. Critics are supposed to hate commercial pop.

I also feel ASIB soundtrack is universally appealing and if any other pop star transitioned from "weird/edgy" to what she did on ASIB, that would have been universal acclaim. Yet we only got a measly 79 MC score.

To be fair it's more like 50%. The commercial is more than just that "bop it bop it" sound. There are a lot more layers that are not from this song.

Dua looks NOTHING like kim, if anything it's Gaga who looks like kim nowadays, they go to the same doctor after all.

Just because it was inspired by anime it doesn't mean the execution was great :billie:

"she makes music for 25 year olds" I didn't know critics were 25 year olds, I guess that explains why the album has higher reviews than any Gaga album :billie:

Also yes I said in my first post that I'm taking SL as an indication of the album's sound, since it's what we've heard so far

Not to undermine Future Nostalgia, this is sort of tea. FN is a solid album and it deserves its praise (will not compare to whatever you think is a perfect pop album). that being said, if Gaga delivered FN I could definitely already envision tabloids like “underwhelming compared to her old work” “basic”, and I’m in no way saying FN is this. It’s more comparing the fact that FN is such a good record and that someone would still “bash it” or give to a “bad review” simply because of Gaga’s name behind it —> standard for her is set high.

still, you shouldn’t have used FN as an example. it’s a good album and it was just released. then again what other album could you use as an example? your entire thread sounds like ur annoyed of dua’s success but okayy

Well I don't think fans are expecting them to praise Joanne or Stupid Love. But even when she does give her best, it's not the same kind of praise other artists receive.

Compare SL MV to the photoshoot from her latest interview which everyone praised. when she presents something that is genuinely good she gets praised for it. Something being very polarising to her own fans maybe should be an indication that it isn't as great as some fans think it is.

She didn’t sample it. It’s a sound they both happened to use. Someone here literally reached out to the artist of that song to ask if they were aware Lady Gaga used his song and he said he got it from splice.com

reality’s tight if the music is right
