Gaga gets less praise because she makes marmite music, you love it or you hate it. She hasn't made a widely appealing body of work since The Fame. You need to be really into your synths and quirky lyrics and her vocal style to like her music, you either do or you don't, she's polarising.

Disagree, I think Gaga is being held up to the standard she has set up for herself, however, her discography is very much a mixed bag - sometimes she puts out genuinely very high quality work, other times, well, The Cures happen

aka I’d rather have something new than the best disco music re done with a new a new pop girl. Something like Babylon is what I mean. But I’m into pop stars pushing the envelope. Not saying Dua isn’t great.

And that’s why I like her. The fact her music is polarizing and isn’t the same cut and paste pop star music  to each there own.

That's not wrong but I feel that's also true for people like Bjork and those type of artists. Hell even Billie Eillish. Yet they've always had an easier time with critics.

I haven't heard the Babylon leak which is why I based my opinion on SL, which neither has an experimental instrumental and out of the ordinary pop notes nor is it a rehash of what makes disco pop sound like disco pop

I completely agree with you.

If Gaga released FN, it would have a meh response. I think the album is good but mostly because it came from DL. If it were Gaga I’d be like this is your version of disco really??

I also think SL, if dropped by Dua, would be revolutionary, and I don’t think SL is good by Gaga standards. 

Reviewers aren’t objective, they’re people who are influenced by their perception of an artist and their history just like me, so I imagine it’s the same. Gaga is like a musical wizard, she has set the precedent for reinvention in her art and so we expect serious innovation, surprise and quality every time.

lady Gaga is dropping a sailor moon ish anime inspired electronic dance album. 
 

I wonder who’s going to sell and stream more.

Gaga struggles a bit more because she straddles the line of commerciality and weirdness and doesn't rly fall on either side in my opinion.

I know absolutely nothing about Dua Lipa, so I can't speak to that.

But yes, Gaga is held to a much higher standard. People expect A LOT out of her. She can not get by with the regular shyt that other pop girls get by with.
