dit 46,518
ugh here comes the music snobs. Anyways, I agree. Future Nostalgia is literally one of the most solid pop girl albums in a LONG LONG while. I appreciate how sleek and great each record is. You can hear the quality. She and her producers clearly worked super hard on this record because each song is made with love. It's so full of production intricacy and the lyrics are really strong, clever and/or just well placed even when simple.

Dua isn’t a saint who decided to make the world a better place by releasing FN a week earlier out of goodness and generosity. She was going to postpone but the album leaked and so she had to release earlier. The music industry is a business and decisions are made for money. And the numbers she does right now will be proof as to why FN was going to be delayed originally. Do you have proof of this statement? Because you are stating it as if it is a fact. Was she truly going to delay the album? I'm curious tbh. All I know is she had a date set but it leaked so she released it earlier but there was no planned postponment or even hints of a postponement. She was going to stick to the original release which was a week after the new date.
Epione 10,896
The album is quite good but she is mediocre pop star in general. Not gonna stan.

The album is fine. But not original or ambitious and, hence, impossible to be interpreted as a game changer. How is it basic to like FN? It’s a great album and something fresh when compared to contemporary pop artists. Also, I didn’t say being a music snob is good. I’m trying to be more open to other mainstream acts cause recently, I have closed myself off from them. In regard to your second paragraph, I did not say she reinvented the wheel. But what she made was a brilliant pop album you can actually dance to and that fun energy is so needed in pop music right now. I would still say it’s original and ambitious but maybe not groundbreaking. trolly troll troll

She released the album a week earlier to not lose 'more coins'. - Gaga didn't get a chance to promote Stupid Love by performing on different tv and award shows. - Chromatica didn't leak. pedrohemg 7,802
For me, saving pop music is much more than releasing a good album. GP must feel it and it must become a huge success. Also, it must have the potential to change the industry and to influence other artists. For now, I can't see FN reaching any of the requisites I listed above (MY requisites, you can disagree). OMF 3,486
I love Future Nostalgia and feel it’s one of the best pop albums of the last 10 years. but how did it save pop music..? K-Pop bands have been selling in massive numbers, going high on charts. Aren’t they pop? I’d argue Harry Styles Fine Line is a damn great pop album too, just inspired by a different decade of pop music. As for the constant SL thrashing, I am very sorry BUT Stupid Love feels fresher to me as Dua Lipa is paying tribute in a more straightforward sense to 80s pop. SL in terms of sound and choreography is fresh and different. Love or hate perhaps but still fresh. hey, pop music is around. Trends have changed and whether Dua Lipa can put that kind of pop on everyone’s list and inspire even more it’s to be seen. 😀 I’m an 80s and 90s music lover so bring it on! It’s a great album and something fresh when compared to contemporary pop artists. Because you said she "saved" pop music, when I can guarantee you that if Katy or Britney hired a bunch of songwriters and producers to create that exact same album with their voices on top, you wouldn't have been impressed. It's all in the presentation. Dua comes across as the next hot thing now. But other pop stars have been doing her disco throwback act years, even decades ago. There's nothing unique about this record other than the fact that some songs are excellently produced. So how is that "saving" anything? That's like saying a well-executed new burger at McDonald's saved gourmet burger cuisine. We've had excellent pop albums over the years. Think Art Angels, Magdalene, Titanic Rising,... Those were albums that pushed the boundaries and offered listeners something extremely fresh, innovative and irreplaceable. I just find it shocking that so many fans and critics push this very well executed but fundamentally unimpressive album way past its deserved accolade limit.
