Is Chromatica ARTPOP's twin sister? (Act II?)

I firmly believe some of Act II's songs will be included on this album. Everything about this era screams continuation of ARTPOP. Act I was filled with experimental music, and it was said (not sure by whom) that Act II will contain more radio-friendly music, which is exactly what Stupid Love is. If you think about it, Gaga has always experimented with new sounds every single album, but SL does not sound experimental AT ALL. In fact, some people have stated that it sounds dated. Is it possible that Gaga wants to redo the ARTPOP era? One without the backlash? And filled with happy dance bops? Am I reaching here?

Actually ACT I was supposed to be the radio friendly album and ACT II the experimental one. She said, however, that they completely scrapped that idea and offered a blend of both the radio friendly and experimental tracks on ARTPOP and that's exactly what it sounds like.

I think the ARTPOP connection is a reach. Yes, she's returning to dance-pop but literally of her pre-C2C albums were dance-pop albums so there's no real link there. I mean, we had half the forum thinking SL was a BTW demo when it leaked, that tells you something :ladyhaha:

There are some thematic links between the eras, it seems, but I think Gaga would resent the comparison being made. ARTPOP is its own thing and I'm sure she thinks of Chromatica as a standalone piece with its own raison d'être. ARTPOP was made during a terrible period of her life in which she tried to escape into music. Chromatica was made during a happy period in her life. She's not escaping this time. She's celebrating.

I don’t think we’ll hear Act II songs on Chromatica, but the overall vibe and story of the album reminds me of ARTPOP a bit. Like this was a new chance to execute some ARTPOP ideas and what it was meant to be from the beginning but now they’re both a mess:laughga:

Not in the "Act II" sense, those songs are buried, but I'm pretty sure it will be ARTPOP's little sister as having the same hard dance-pop vibes.

OK girl. You can FIRMLY believe that. Or you can let go of that fantasy of the extension of an album, which does not exist, and realize we will never get it. :toofunny: Chromatica is an album which Gaga wrote and composed 6 years after whatever ARTPOP Act 2 was. It's just not realistic.

I agree with all you said. But the last part I'm not so sure of. Throughout the interviews (Zane Lowe and Paper) I actually had the very uneasy feeling that I may not enjoy this album knowing that Gaga was in so much ****ing pain writing it. For her to say that she said she wished she could lay in a coffin and not exist, and Bloodpop "forcing" her to get up and make music, as well as other confirmed lyrics and themes such as being 6 feet under, trauma, "water like misery", and abusing medication pills... I wouldn't say she wasn't escaping anything or that she was happy.

But she concluded all that by saying that she chose pop music again and that it wasn't consuming her (anymore). That's quite different, I'd say. But I mean, yeah, you're right, there will definitely be a lot of pain and heartbreak on this record. But the overall message, I think, will not be that we are dancing through our pain but dancing despite of it. That would reflect the big mindset shift Gaga underwent, about which she talked to Oprah ("I radically accept the fact that I'm in pain" etc.).

But yeah, like I said, there are thematic parallels there. Can't wait to talk about the actual songs with you

I wouldn't be surprised to see TEA and Frankenstein on the album even as bonus track... that would be Gaga REALLY giving us what we want.
