And also slightly off topic, I don't see why gays would have a problem with this, as something like Dua's effort that both smashes and gets acclaim will legitimize and help bring "pure" pop back into the mainstream in an era filled with mumble rappers and ASMR pop

Tonnes and I already did that and did it better. Dua is not needed.

Absolutely not, plus they aren't comparable in the absolute slightest.

Since when? excuse me if Im wrong but I don't think Gaga's aim has ever been to "deliver" disco.

Yes, you're wrong.

Lmao Future Nostalgia is really one of the greatest albums released by a pop girl in recent memory. Seriously even tops thank u next. But I don’t think Gaga has been chasing this sound for years lol. She decides to do something vastly different every album. I’m glad gaga postponed her album just so we don’t have to hear people pit them against each other the entire era lol.

"The sound that Gaga has been chasing for years"....

Dua is making pop dance music.

Gaga did a jazz album, a country folk/folk album, and a movie soundtrack.

So what sound has Gaga been chasing for years exactly? :lolga:

Gaga doesn’t chase anyone, much less Dua Lipa :laughga:

Gaga is a legend and her career, music, and iconography speaks for itself. Dua has some nice simple dance songs but she takes no risks, pushes no boundaries, and pales in comparison to Gaga in terms of singing, songwriting, performing ability, and creativity. There really is no comparison as much as I like some of Dua’s songs.

Would I have liked Chromatica to be released sooner? Sure, but that doesn’t mean we should glorify Dua for having an earlier release when Gaga has great music waiting for us that will be worth waiting for. If you don’t have faith in Gaga’s talents after years of ups and downs, setbacks and wild successes, then stop being a fan and move on. This constant comparison to newer, younger pop stars and their supposed current successes is a tired argument to have when you can and should appreciate the legendary talent that Gaga is and has always been.

He is right, but Gaga and her label had made the deci$$$$$$ion and I'm sure that the album still not gonna sell a lot. Since this pandemic is gonna last almost til september, especially in america where people and governments aren't doing much (Trump and Lopez Obrador acted like it was nothing). So the era is already damaged because she and her team are not creative enough to put on some interesting digital promo (acoustic concerts from her house, more interaction on her social networks, promo singles, doing lives on instagram, post more about the album, even a fanart competition OR SOMETHING). She is gonna flop even harder....

So I'm just waiting for the leak

You’re sooooo right! Gaga is such a sell-out these days.

I never thought i'd see the day where Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga were compared. I love both, and they're not even remotely comparable...

Music journalism has suffered because they have blatantly started echoing stan twitter. It is pretty lame. Stan War'd opinions often have no logic, nuance, or intelligence about them - it's fueled by sexism and immaturity. If I wanted to read that type of stuff I'd just follow Pop Crave's twitter. I'd love to see a Pauline Kael-type figure emerge in music journalism. I read a few of her books, and she was always calling other critics on their bullsh_t.

This review might as well read as "Dua brought the disco bops! Gaga should have, but she delayed, so I am mad. 5/5" Like, this dude could not be any more basic.

Also, @Didymus, are you really surprised people are calling you out when you've made the posts you've made over the years? Just admit you like being messy.
