True but then I'd prefer it if she just said it like that. That would prevent hundreds of fans bashing her personally for a decision that's not even hers :smh:

If she just told it the way it is we would be talking about what Interscope had to lose etc., it'd be a far more balanced debate. Oh well, I guess it'll blow over. But sometimes I don't get why Gaga wants to keep up this lame appearance of the grand artist when it's beyond clear by now she's still enslaved to the industry's ball and chain.

She's not going to write "Don't blame me, blame Interscope". It's just immature. News comes from her as the artist and brand.

Then go away...listen to someone else...why are you still here being selfish

You know. You’re right. Not entirely sure why I stayed a part of this fan base for so long. Gaga and the monsters have proven many times how hypocritical they are. I have stood by every decision she has made till this point. Including ones I wasn’t really thrilled with. I tried to rationalize so many decisions and defend against some of the very people trying to defend this but crap on pettier things. Peace and enjoy your new layout.

She was probably fighting tooth and nail for it, and then UMG told her to stop.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

Glad my thread helped you realize it

The point is that fans can immediately understand this is simply a business decision that Gaga has no power to fight. Believe it or not, it would create a completely different fan reception than this "omg Gaga, where's your music not the bling now!!!" frenzy :smh:

Interscope's decision is understandable (while wrong) and I'm sure most fans get that. If Gaga just typed "we" instead of "I made the decision" it would've already made a world of difference and she wouldn't have had to call out Interscope directly.

Might be the only time I agree with you, but I still wouldn't drag Gaga for putting "I" instead of "we." It's common sense, but fans don't want to realize that even FKA Twigs and Lana are held hostage to the labels.

Some fans live in la la land though. Here in the US, the peak is predicted to hit...in 2-6 weeks when the album was supposed to drop. LOL at Interscope putting out one a colorful, playful album, with one of their big names, and having her do IG LIve and stream sh*t while hundreds of thousands are hospitalized and or dying. It'd be a PR disaster of epic proportions (most of the media will be busy with real news, and the ones that cover her...oh boy). Even if she wouldn't be doing anything wrong, it would be seen as insanely tone deaf and the backlash would be severe....like R. Kelly severe. I'm sure even this will get some mild backlash even though a publicist probably went over it, but better for her to eat it now than later.

And people comparing it to Dua....Dua is releasing this Friday and has had promo for way longer.

There are more subtle and not offending ways to tell this though, what would have been way better. Even if she wrote it between the lines.

ikr? She set herself up to be dragged this way (which doesn't justify the dragging, don't get me wrong). I wonder if she's aware of this fact. Or maybe she is indeed super aware and that means that she's even way more 'enslaved' to Interscope and they forbad here completely to talk about them. :s

I don't disagree, I just think the problem is: when will it be ok? Months after the last person has died of corona? :flop:

This social distancing thing is gonna take months more around the world. At some point people are gonna stop caring about what looks good and they'll just be happy there's some entertainment out there. As long as Gaga wouldn't pretend like nothing was happening, I don't think there would be a backlash at all. Quite the contrary.

I'm glad they did to be honest. I've been looking forward to the album, but this had disaster written all over it because of her reliance on physical sales. She could put it out for free on youtube or whatever, like some stars, but she has tons of people involved...she isn't a "minimal production" type like some artists....and those people would be impacted even if Gaga can eat "losing" the bling. Dua would have delayed too, imo, except for the leak and the fact she has had way more promo...so it makes sense to just push it up.

Also, the PR optics would be....bad...considering the virus is supposed to peak in 2-6 weeks. Gaga getting on IG live and hosting "dance parties" for a colorful, camp album right then....yikes.

July-August. I agree that waiting until it's completely gone is silly, but the worst should be over by mid or late July if you look at China/Italy/etc. She just can't release at the peak or around the peak, which would have been....the original Chromatica date (very bad luck, but Interscope had no way of knowing that).

Right now, Amazon is delaying a lot of orders unless they are "essential" items...but by July I imagine it will be back to normal (or at least semi-normal). Social isolation will probably be "partially" lifted by July, too, so people can buy physical copies if they go to Target, etc.

But besides the money, the optics will be easier in July...it's going to be a fine, tricky line no matter what but "let's host a dance party on IG live" when people are recovering/things are a bit better/etc. is a lot different than "let's host a dance party on IG live" when the hospitals are overflowing in her hometown. I'm just...baffled...that people think Interscope would have ever let her do the latter.
