Ignore them, not real fans I think they actually expected more R&B and dark stuff like on his earlier work and are critical of the pop aspect. Also of the overproduction on his vocals. Ignore them, not real fans No, I was expecting the album to be more oldschool RnB. Calling new possible fans 'not real fans' is so elitist. Reminds me of some monsters telling those who prefer Joanne over TFM aren't real Gaga fans.

It's weird if fans expect that after so many years that he has been making pop structured songs along side more "original The Weeknd" songs. He has been doing both. After Hours is pretty "original". Alone Again too but with more modern beats. I agree his voice don't need so much correcting or that his voice is not clear bc overshadowing sounds. But this is nothing new it happened with Starboy too, even in Beauty behind the Madness. To me this album is a mix of every part of Abel. It has darkness, experimentation, a lot of happiness, pop, R&B, electronic, trap, rap, disco. Has positive and negative songs. It's cohesive. I also would love a pure House of Balloons type of songs but he really did move on to more pop structure since 2015. I didn't like it to start with but he does keep some darkness overall, and some songs are "original The Weeknd" type but very few. Just hold on to these songs and be happy. Try to embrace it the pop songs are good and has long as there are only few of those it's cool. #rantout

But i guess not much old school. What do you mean with old school R&B?

Guess it really is a fanbase thing huh Honestly I do feel like this is true in most cases. I think it’s fairly safe to say that once you go from casual listener to hardcore fan, start obsessing over an artist and begin interacting with the fanbase over socials and whatnot, after spending the time from one album to another setting a standard for yourself with the previous works of said artist, inevitable expectations come into play and start building up till they aren’t fully met when they come up with something different and new. We get stuck in the past. That’s completely human. I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that BTW is the Lady Gaga standard for me, and since then I haven’t really got the same level of satisfaction from her music again, sadly. Creyk 17,817
I can't believe I waited so much for this album only for it to be such a letdown. Save Your Tears is the only new song I like. Sad sad day.

Rifek 51,753
Ok. I listened to the whole album. Didn't like it at all. There's just a few songs I'm gonna give streams. ❗️ IG: thebumblebee__ ❗️

You just sound ridiculous with that boomer talk. I have been listening to him since then and I still like his new direction best. Opinions don't make a fake fan imo but whatever.
