I agree with this 100%.

As for Burr, if he is pushed out of office, he’s retiring this year anyway so I doubt he will care too much. But (and I mean this in all honesty), I don’t understand why people feel he did something super dishonest. Yeah he knew we weren’t prepared for this, although an American could probably have figured that out, and he did something a smart investor would have done. I’m really open to discussion about this, I’m not trying to be naive.

These insider laws are in place to prevent the people running the business (or government) from lying about how the company (or country) is doing in order to falsely keep confidence up while they sell all their stock to make the most money before the reality of the situation is made public and the price of the stock drops like a rock.

In business, it screws over the stockholders. When it’s the government, it screws over the American people. It’s not “smart” to have information that no one else has and act on it. It’s dishonest.

Can't say I'm surprised.

Check the Trump family's stocks as well.

There's a lot that's missing from this article, but Senator Burr is not just some random Senator: he's the Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman, and they receive sensitive information and "review intelligence reports, budgets, and activities; investigate matters on behalf of the Committee; prepare legislation; and receive briefings." https://www.intelligence.senate.gov/about

It's hard to explain, but their Committee handles all kinds of things: from investigating foreign election interference, to examining pandemics, etc.

It's not that he dumped his stock; it's the fact that he knew based on the intelligence briefings that he was getting that the United States was not prepared for the corona virus outbreak, and instead, told others that this was not a big deal. The only people he told was this group in a private setting, but did not tell others; instead he wrote an op-ed with Sen Alexander on Fox News about how the US was "better prepared" for the corona virus outbreak (it wasn't).

But his real crime will be for insider trading.

Mister G

Prime example that these folks operate under the mindset that they’re above the law...rule of law ceased to apply let alone exist for a lot of people the minute “he who shall not be named” was declared president elect at that time.

Thanks. This helps explain it. I have to say that Burr once at least held my respect as he is my representative and helped me get a tour of the White House and Capitol building when I took my 5th graders to DC. He’s lost a lot of respect from me in recent years as I just can’t stand behind some of his positions.

Appearently Democrat senator Dianne Feinstein from California is involved in this too?

I just read about this.

They should all face investigation, and if found guilty, they should resign promptly.

I don’t like the narrative that public servants shouldn’t be covering their own asses. If they fail we fail even worse.

What's to in investigate.. ?

They had foreknowledge of news that would affect the stock market...

They sold their stocks...then. the market nose dived,  after the news was released to the media....

That's insider trading. 1A...
