A problematic bop, but a bop nonetheless, was criticized heavily for its mildly homophobic lyrical content

It was cute-ish at the time, but people demand more sensitivity these days. So it's all about context -- wouldn't be released today.

The song itself - meh. It's not good, it's not bad. It's just chillin. lol

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

But let's not leave the superior exploitative LGBT Katy Perry song out of the conversation: I Kissed a Girl  That song is so good it could murder my whole family and I'd still bop to it. I'd bop to it while it was doing the murdering. :music:

My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <3

It's cute, I like the song in general, I would change the lyrics tho.

Off topic: what does the voice say at the beginning? I have never understood that. "your mind refuses to believe"?

Не верь, не бойся, не проси

The music is good, the melody is good, I definitely think the song would never be able to be released today though.

Her best song. Still my favorite song by her.

But of course, it’s the “everything offends Me” crowd that will crucify the song.

It was an honest commentary upon the metro sexual/scene/emo movement that was happening. Which was happening around the same time yaoi was becoming popular.

Would never be released today, but it was a true product of it's time.

I mean, nowadays, most gays aren't always stereotypical and such but still.

Never understood the ‘Ur so gay you don’t even like boys’ line. Was she being sarcastic?

She'd be cancelled if released in today's climate. It was a different time then. This slapped when it came out in HS.
