Gaga should NOT delay the album

[WARNING: probably a long text]

Ā

While it's true that Gaga has more impact on sales, than on streaming, should she really delay the album? In my opinion, it's not necessary.

Ā

Gaga and her team aren't known for being great at promo, most of the times there are many missed opportunities for them to use in advantage. On the one hand, we know overexposure can be dangerous for Gaga, so maybe that's why they take things slow.

On the other hand, has the way of promoting music changed? In this technologic era, is it important to have interviews and TV performances, when most of the times while they're useful for people to connect with the artist, it's more for the die-hard fans? GP doesn't really care, despite the amount of promo.

Ā

Gaga's team could still easily promote the album; from phone calls interview on radios, even though not many youngsters listen to radio nowadays, to ads on YouTube and other streaming services, to even viral tweets/IG posts, since we know Gaga has the power to call the GP's attention when it's well planned.

It is not really necessary for Gaga to go on TV shows and perform, if the music speaks for itself. Let's not forget the fact that most Gaga hits are sleeping hits. They didn't become successful since day one, it took MONTHS for them to reach the top of the charts and remain there, look at Shallow. Or even Million Reasons, thanks to the Super Bowl, which took place months after the album release.

Ā

It is true that with the CoronaVirus outbreak, there are other important things to look after, but isn't music a great distraction? Many countries are getting locked down, what are people supposed to do in their homes? Just sit and cry? Now more than ever it is a great, although sad, opportunity for new music and new shows to be released.

So why should Gaga delay the album? Out of respect? A lot of **** is happening around the world on a daily basis, should that really put a stop on everyone's plans then?Ā

Ā

Hard times, yes, but I still think it's a good opportunity for Gaga to carry on with her plan. She will probably have a lot of time and other opportunities to promote the album songs in the old way, after all, it's Gaga we're talking about, have some faith on her for fvck's sake :wtfga:

There are probably many other points why it is a good idea, but I just woke up and can't really think of any other thingĀ :huntyga:

I just can't with some of y'all basically praying for Chromatica to be delayed; if you personally think it's not a good idea to be released, then just don't listen whenever comes out and do it whenever you're ready. Let other people enjoy it :triggered:

The way I see it, whether it’s released physically next month or not, it’s so close to release that the CDs have probably already been pressed so a leak is inevitable. She’s best releasing it digitally to still make money off of it and we’ve all preordered the physical copies anyway so we’ll just receive them at a later date... no biggie

If a lockdown happens me and my friend won't be able to get together to listen to the album in full for the first time :messga:

So either she delays the album

Or we don't have a lockdown

I'm fine with eitherĀ :vegas:

She can even release them in like, special bundles/editions. It's not like the GP buy music anyway, so the sales really depend on the fans and collectors more than anything

I agree with you,Ā @PlastiscGuy! Many fans have been waiting for Chromatica for a very long time and they will be super disappointed. And yes, there are different ways for Lady Gaga and her team to promote new album, and I think these ways will help her find a connection with Gen Z (for example, live shows in Instagram).

There's gonna be a lot of people in lockdown/self quarantine who need something to do so it's kinda perfect timing :shrug:Ā

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Shipping is the issue, so once this whole pandemic is over, it’ll be safer to ship the physical copies. I’m saying she’d be better off delaying the physical copies, not the overall release

ARTPOPSYCHOLOGY

Thank you!!Ā I’ve been wanting to make a thread like this for awhile now but was afraid since some monsters on this site are insanely defensive of delaying the album. Everything you said was perfect. Dua + The Weeknd did about 2 or 3 talk/nightĀ shows and I can’t even remember which ones now. The impact is minimal. Ā Also The Weeknd hasn’t released his tracklist and the album comes out this Friday.

All pre-orders of ChromaticaĀ that took place will obviously count for first week sales so people worried about the charts will soon realize not that many people go out and buy physical copies of albums who didn’t already pre-order. And we don’t even know if stores/factories will Still be closed (at least in the US) in 22 days.Ā

No delays!! People need art and music more than ever during difficult times!! Delaying projects is selfish and driven by superficial labelĀ needs.
