He called a steward for assistance and claims they did nothing. Queue video: a few people are standing up inside the plane and the USA citizen is yelling 'you don't put your hands on me' at a male steward telling him to calm down. The man keeps pushing at the steward so the steward raises his arms to keep the guys arms away. The assaulter then punches him in the face, the steward at this point says to call the police. The person recording is the assaulters gf (I think) and shes yelling that the steward assaulted her bf and hit him first. To call the police and that they have rights and what they are doing is not illegal (it is, causing a disturbance on a flight is very likely a crime, not taking into account assault. More yelling and pushing a senior female hostess shows up and tells the guy he needs to calm down now or he will be removed. He gets up in her face and yells/spits in her face (keep in mind their is a global pandemic and this guy is literally wearing a mask). She responds by slapping him and he instantly slaps her back (shes way smaller than him and quite older so it was MUCH worse when he hit back). At this point a passenger stands up and wrestles the assaulter to the ground and it cuts off. While a respectable and appropriate response, I doubt the airline will like that. Which reallt pisses me off as it could cost her her job or at least senior ranking.
